reche for sure .rememeber when their no one he did step and bust his ass to be a #1 WR even though he did not have the skills for it.you cannot drop a guy who went beyond his talent for the team.

as a #2 WR he is very servicable and remember he was on WR screen with alot successfull one`s last season.Jabbar never did any of this patterns which involved TE and OL developing block down feild and running with patiences.

also ,after troy brown strip against SD the guy running to catch also was reche hence jumping on the ball getting it back for us. Its is the small thing but i think it tilts the balance to him.

I think Reche gets a bad rap, purely because he had the title of "#1 receiver" coming into the year. Gaffney came in midseason with no expectations, so anything we got out of him was a positive. Reche didn't perform like a #1, but I think he is a more talented WR than Gaffney. Gaffney was just in a better position last year.

I will take Jabar Gaffney over Caldwell... I do want to see what we get out of Kelly Washington, i think he has a good chance to do something

Reche dropped THE big pass in the playoff game. For just that I would dump him considering our other receivers.

There's a long way to go between now and the start of the season... people tweak hamstrings and there are plenty of scenarios where Caldwell and Gaffney both make the team.

But I'd have to say that Brady had no choice to develop timing with Caldwell last year and that Caldwell has an edge on Gaffney in that regard.

Given their low salaries neither needs to be cut to save cap space - but Caldwell, Gaffney, Welker and Troy are all in the same 8-12 yard per catch category, so if there needs to be a choice there I don't see the need for all three - and Welker's not going anywhere

I lean that way too. Right now they are the most experienced guys in the system, the likely security blankets until Brady gets in sync with the new toys. Say it's week 1 or 2, you need some crucial first downs, would you feel comfortable with Brady gazing out at Welker, Stallworth and Moss? Plenty of talent there, but not the mind-reading QB-WR link. Think of how much Brady leaned on Brown early last year in those situations.

Too bad we can't trade either of them because as good WRs with low salaries they'd probably be worth something to some team at the end of training camp should we not have any injuries (knock on wood)

Oh, wait! We can trade them!

... and the rich get richer

These gives you three bigger prototypical vertical guys:

Moss
Stallworth
Washington

and three smaller, shiftier posession guys:

Welker
Gaffney
Brown

To me that makes the most sense, vs. keeping only two of the smaller guys (that NE's offense historically prefers).
I disagree with your logic. I would prefer to have all receivers big= Moss size rather than smaller ones to "complement". Reason: Teams can match their big and small CBs if we have a small #2. If the WO's are both big, one CB will have to try to cover a big wideout. Welker and Brown are quick slot rcvrs, able to get free in the short zone.

Neither. We have too many damn Gators as it is.

Seriously though, I'll go Reche. He has over 60 catches and has never stolen jewlery from his teammates like Jaburglar(just a little joke because of the Merriweather threads).

I'd be suprised if both don't make it, at least to start the year. Washington will likely DQ himself in camp. Never been impressed with him.
