If there was one team I think Belichick is preparing to beat it's Denver (yeah, I know, not on the schedule- think playoffs). Think about this though- their new DC is Jim Bates, who gave us fits with the Dolphins. They have 2 excellent corners, speedy linebackers and some young talent on the D-line. Their D will be hard to score on without a stable of weapons, so I believe Belichick has this in mind. All these years the Pats were prepared to beat every team BUT Denver, so maybe Belichick isn't taking chances anymore.
Every time we have lost to Denver it has been in a year we didn't win the Superbowl. Yes, Denver always plays us tough, but when we have lost to Denver I think it was because we just weren't that good. We beat them in 2003 and went on the win the Superbowl, and I fully believe that had we played them in 2004 we would have beaten them as well. In 2005 and 2006 we had inferior teams than the 2003 and 2004 versions. I want to see how we will do against the Broncos with a legitimate Superbowl caliber team. If we go 15-1 and then lose to the Broncos in the playoffs, then I will say yes, Denver has our number. Until then, I'm not totally convinced.

Okay, it's a goofy article, unintentionally funny, but why is it that NY media supports the Jets, Indy media supports the Colts, etc etc, and the Boston media can't do anything but crap on the Pats?

You know that the Pats were going to be trashed in the Boston media no matter what they did.

Even the official Patriots pre-game radio show was an exercise in Pats bashing with wRONg Borgass.
They allow a plagiarist on the pre game show?

I wouldn't go as far to say Denver has our number, but we have the worst luck in games against the Broncos. They always seem to catch us when we don't have our best personnel or when we make uncharacteristic mistakes. Take that Walker 83-yd TD last year - we crush the QB but he makes a great throw and our DB's don't even touch the receiver.

I think this article is why we signed all of the wide-outs to stretch the field. If the Colts and Jets want to bring up Sanders and Rhodes and stuff the box bring it on.

The original article is just a puff piece to make Jets fans feel good about their team.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

It's safe to say that every team that plays the Pats provides a report card to BB & SP on the Pats' strengths and weaknesses. The last game of the season, the AFC Championship game, was the final exam.

At that point, the team was fully aware of their weaknesses and that provided the goundwork for the overhaul that started with the current FA period. Given that the Colts are the SB champs, I don't have any problem with comments indicating the need to retool to beat them. As for the comments regarding the Jets and "hearing footsteps," that's completely ridiculous.

But, hey, it sells papers!

And don't think for a minute that any number of posters on this board are less capable to write a coherent, sensible column in these same newspapers & blogs. The only difference is that one group gets paid for putting words on paper. For some who call themselves journalists, this is legalized larceny.

Miami seems to beat us one regular season game per year (more frequently than the Jets). Maybe we upgraded because of our fear of the Dolphins?

The Ravens??? Argh, I spent all last year telling people how bad they were (I live in the DC area and don't get the ticket so I watch some Ravens games), and I was hoping the playoff performance against Indy would put that to rest.
Even if their offense relatively shut down the Pats, NE would still win 12-3. They can beat bad an average teams with their defense alone. Against a good team they can't shut out a top offense, and can't score against a good defense.

I'd rather the Pats play against the Ravens than most other teams in the AFC. With a lot of teams you'll get variance, NE could beat them by 20, lose by 7, or anywhere in between. When it comes to the Ravens, NE would win by 10. The Baltimore D is too good to let NE get above 20 (while NEs offense is too good to get shut down completely) and their offense is too bad to score more than 10. I'll take that any day.

Granted, I haven't paid any attention to what they've done in the offseason. They picked up McGahee and his sub-4 ypc, right? They still have McNair at QB? I don't see any reason for my opinion of them to change.

Cool Re: Blame Jets for Moss to Pats

What is more hilarious is how obsessed the Jets are with the Pats. Every time the Pats make a move the Jets media and fans come out with their articles and opinions that the Pats are making all these moves in order to stay one step ahead of the Jets, a team that has beat them, what, once in the last 8 tries or so? Too funny. Ahhhh, gee fellas, maybe we're making these moves to have as much fire power as our real rivals, the Colts, or to have a more explosive offense, to overcome, say, San Diego or Denver at playoff time? Keep dreamin' Jets fans!

Why should we be scared of team whose ass we kicked in the playoffs? And a team who was lucky to even be in it.

They'll find out Randy can't run consistently anymore. He'll drive [Tom] Brady and [Bill] Belichick crazy. This is just my personal opinion from what I saw: He's losing his legs. He's becoming an old man fast.

I would love to see Revis try to "shut down" Randy Moss.
