Thumbs up One thing the NFL got right this year...

Yesterday I read that, starting this year, the NFL is no longer going to skip having a Sunday night game during the World Series. Goodell said it's up to the fans to choose whether they want to watch football or base-ball.

I've been wanting them to do this for years. I could care less about base-ball and was always annoyed that they skipped out on football for the WS, even if it was a "professional courtesy" or whatever.

So there.

Baseball is an anachronism and this will be illustrated by SNF beating the World Series in the ratings.

SNF is going to crush the World Series if it is anything short of Yankees v Phillies.. and probably even then. I say SNF wins doubles the rating of whatever World Series game is going on haha

It will be interesting, if you follow the media in this area they claim the Red Sox trump the Pats, but have felt for a while that this is changing.. and football will become king.

They seriously need to impose a harder, enforceable salary cap in baseball (f..ing yankees), and figure out how to speed up that game.. it is like watching grass grow.

This is a good move by Goodell, and might prove to be a wake up call for MLB...

No, that changed a while back. Only WEEI (which carries Bankofamericasox) and Shaughnessy at the Globe attempt that spin occasionally. I think most recently the trend was evidenced by Pats preseason murdering Bankofamericasox vs. Yankees at Fenway in the television ratings.

It may have changed, but seems to be a continuing belief by many.. hope you are correct.

C'mon guys. Head to head, yes, the Pats are bigger than the Sox now, but only locally. Nationally, the Sox are bigger.

And if the Sox were on a Sunday night WS game, across from the Pats in a Sunday night game, the Sox would draw more viewers. This might switch if it were a rivalry game for the Pats and the Sox were down 3-0 in the series.

Especially since it is Pitts @New Orleans...on Halloween night no less.....
A stiff game might not get the ratings of this one in week 8 before they start flexing games.....

What does this mean? Nationally, interest in the NFL dwarfs MLB.
