Default Which players will improve off 2006 performances? - Which will decline?

Which players do you think will improve from their 2006 performances?...Which players do you think will decline and not be as good this year?

DO NOT COUNT NEWLY FA SIGNINGS AS THEY HAVE NOT PLAYED A DOWN AS A PATRIOT YET.

I will put improved performances with TOM BRADY (Better Receiving core) - ELLIS HOBBS (Won't have a cast on or wrist injury if he does not injure it again beforehand) - and IF he plays CHAD JACKSON (can he be worse than his rookie season?-only if he dies)

I will put Declining performances on ASANTE SAMUEL (hard to duplicate his interceptions and overall coverage which was top notch, besides more often than not a player usually plays as well but not better than coming off thier best season and will probably play as well than last year but not better, its gonna be hard to be better than he was in 2006) - RECHE CALDWELL (declining stats more so because of less playing time unless 2 other WRs go down early in the year with injury like Welker and Stallworth) - and - TEDY BRUSCHI (age looks to be catching up to one of our greatest and beloved LBs in Pats history - sad but true,a further decline in his talent/skills is inevitable again)

I agree on ALL of those. I'm sure there are others, but I'm also sure that I'm lazy so I'll just leave it at that. Good thread, thanks Patsfaninpa.

For the record, I think that Rosie has a monster year, especially with all the attention that AD will draw.

Improve:

Maroney
Dave Thomas
Watson

Decline:

Bruschi (love the guy but he is getting up there)
Samuel (I think teams will throw to him less)

Beyond that it's hard to say.

I think the right tackle spot will be better, whether Kaczur or O'Callaghan. Dave Thomas is a good choice as well. Finally, I think Seymour will bounce back from what was a good season for anyone else, sub-par for him. As for declining, I refuse to acknowledge that anyone will be worse.

One of the interesting prospects here is Caldwell - love him or hate him he definately developed a rhythm with Brady toward the end of the season.

While he had far too many short passes for my taste last year (i.e. not enough deep routes) that's not the same problem this year with Stallworth on the team (crossing fingers - if he remains healthy)

With JUST Caldwell and Watson as short to mid range threats defenses were keyed to both of them and played them very tight, with Watson having a routine double team, limiting catches and yards after the catch.

Now with so many receiving threats - including a bonafide deep threat - the game is going to open up for everyone on the field, including Caldwell but especially Watson.

The flip side of the coin is that they will continue to spread the ball - but I think everyone, even if they have fewer catches, will be much more productive when they do catch passes.

I'm looking forward to it!

The flip side for Asante Samuel is one reason he may come to an agreement

on a new contract before he is locked into the one year franchise contract.

Hobbs is up for a big year. hes a hard worker and with teams aware of Asante they might target Hobbs more and since hes going to work hard and compete every day, he'll suprise some. Eugene Wilson will also improve if healthy. I see Wilfork having a big year aswell. Offensivly..Watson because he wont be doubled as much and hes aware he needs to work on a few things..hes a smart guy and he'll fix his problems
