Default The Houston Texans Front Office is a Joke

They passed on Vince Young and Reggie Bush to build on top of David Carr and Dominick Davis. But after one season they CUT Carr, get rid of Davis, trade two second-round picks and swap 1st rounders for Matt Schaub, and then give Schaub 48 million over 6 years!? That is almost Drew Brees-type money.

Good lord, the Texans are challenging the Lions and Matt Millen for the most bone-headed franchise in the league.

I agree that the Schaub trade is a HORRIBLE deal for Houston. Houston has tons of holes to fill & to give up two very early 2nd round picks for a guy who may or not be any better than the QB you just released is puzzling to say the least. I wonder if Houston would trade us their '08 1st round pick for our 28th? hmm

Cousin Maverick,
You have a great point. The only problem is ego. These NFL owners stick to their GM's more than they would their own wives. I guarantee I could do a better job as a GM that those two. They must know where the dirty pictures are. It's not only Millen and the Texas GM. How about Vinny C. in Washington?

Now some food for thought. I think Carr is a better QB than any starter in the NFC North other than Favre. That's one whole NFL division! Now.....wouldn't it make sense for the Packers to grab Carr and to bring him in and let him heal and learn the system? They could them trade Rogers for the Moss deal on the table. Or stockpile some choices and revamp the line so they are ready for when Carr takes over when Brett retires?

This is kind how they got Brett. Atlanta wanted him out.

Is that like being the prettiest fat girl? There isn't a QB in that dvision who is in the top half of the league (including Lord Favre).

Carr has shown nothing that makes me think he is anything more than a JAG. Just because a guy was picked high doesn't mean he can play. There is a reson why the rumors were a 7th was all that was offerred for him.

Charlie Casserly - there's your problem. Rumor had it that Houston planned to part ways with Casserly last year, but decided to keep him on through the '06 draft because of his knowledge. Casserly picked Mario Williams at number one, then "resigned" in May after the draft (convenient timing).

The way I see it, the Texans are trying to clean up Casserly's mess now.

I gotta disagree with you there. Kitna is the probably the best QB in the division right now. Every one knows Favre's abilities and limitations at this point, Turnoversaurus Rex is the punchline to every joke, and the Vikings had a historically inept offense, especially passing.

Of the three, Kitna operated behind BY FAR the worst offensive line (same old story in Detroit), and at one point in the season his number three WR was his positional backup (Luke McCown). He also put up the best, and most consistent, stats of the four on the year.

If anyone remembers the Pats-Lions game, it was a microcosm of the year for Kitna; despite Martz five-step dropping him on every play in the second half, and the offensive line dissolving like alkasaltzer in front of him, Kitna almost won the game for the Lions. He was far better than Carr in a similar situation, but that's to be expected because Kitna has actually been taught and seasoned in the art of nfl quarterbacking, while Carr has just been thrown to the wolves.

Casserly is certainly a joke, but I don't think he was responsible for the Mario Williams pick. The organization knew they were kicking him out, why would they allow him to make such a decision? In any case, I recall hearing after the draft that this specifically was not Casserly's pick.
