Default Bills looking to trade Spikes

From KFFL:
Bills | Spikes on the trade block
Wed, 21 Mar 2007 18:58:48 -0700

Mark Gaughan, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills LB Takeo Spikes is on the trade block, and all the economic factors point to him being traded. It remains hard to see how they can avoid spending more cash than their cap limit of $112 million with Spikes on the roster. He's scheduled to make $4.6 million in 2007.

Maybe wait to see if they have to release him. I doubt that the Bills would trade him to the Pats (you would think they would still be greatful for that Bledsoe trade, but I doubt it). Spikes would fit nicely right into the ILB rotation.

Imagine a LB corp of Bruschi, Colvin, Vrabel, Thomas, and Spikes!!!!

I've always liked the way that Spikes plays.

Spikes would be sexy for about a year, but I think the Pats should start finding replacement LB

He had an Achilles tear in '05, and didn't really play well coming back from it last year, so nobody really knows if he can still play at a high level, or not.

Yeah at his best he is one of the best LB's in the league. But who knows what we would be getting.

well, since he has the potential to be one of the best, doesn't that mean he's worth gambling on? structure a contract where you only pay him if he's back to form and get him cheap and see where he's at.

imagine if he returned to form?
hello?
he'd be a monster!!

He has to have issues though since the Bills are willing to trade him. They probably doubt he can be a monster again. And it's not like taking a risk on a free agent. Since it's a trade it's an even bigger risk because we would be lsing draft picks and/or players.

IIRC, that was the exact injury Rodney had trouble recovering from the year before SD cut him. Worked out well for us that time.

I'd be thrilled if NE sent a 4th to BUF for Spikes.
