Default Best one-year wonder in Patriots history

We've had some players come here and make us think that we found gold only to fall of the earth after a year.

Note: I started following the Patriots during Bledsoe's rookie year (I was 14) so there is probably someone deserving of this title that is well before my time.

My vote goes to Tyrone Poole. I remember Pasquarelli had him ranked #1 among sleeper free agents that season. He was lights out all year in 2003. He led the league in pass deflections and was as good if not better than Ty Law. They threw at him as much as they could because of Law on the other side and he handled it. He even did well when Law missed time. All this after so many wanted to cut him because of his second thoughts about leaving his family to come here.

Then he turned to crap after that. Injuries and just overall drop in play turned him into a liability rapidly.

Poole's a good pick. Ted Washington would be mine.

I would have to say Robert Edwards and thats only because he had that horrible injury at the Pro Bowl activities but other than that he would have had more good years.

Hart Lee Dykes - nobody else is even close. Drafted in the first round by the Pats, had a decent rookie year but turned out to be a complete turd and then just fell off the earth.

You guys must be young. This has to be the spot for "Mini- Mack Herron" He set the league record for total yardage! Than the drugs kicked in..

When I think of flashes of brilliance (or a one year wonder), I always come back to Clayton Weishuhn. Drafted in '82, his best season was '83 (in fact, it was his only 16 game season) - leading the Pats in tackles. In the beginning of the '84 season he suffered a knee injury, missed all of '85, and was never himself his final season in New England. Great player, bum luck, his career ended to soon.

Marv Cook TE -1991

Towards the end off that season, people thought he could become one of the best receiving TE's ever.
