Why do people get so upset about losing a 7th rounder?

I understand that a 7th can turn into Givens or Cassel, but more often than not they don't even get past the initial camp.

Not only that, but NE will likely have two extra 6th's from comp picks, and extra 7th from comps and Arizon'a 6th. If you really wanted a CD, and were willing to pay 10 dollars for it, would you really get upset if they were asking for $10.30?

I already told you the reason in the last thread. It allows us to give Welker a more cap friendly contract.

Ah well, we *****ed up. Better luck next time.
BB fan, you're not used to the new prices with the salary cap. And the 7th round is the 219 pick of the NFL draft. 28th selection of the 7th round. We got a plethora of lower picks after the comp. picks -- can't all make the team anyways.

I like Wes.

You hit the nail on the head, BF. The only reason for the Pats to do this is to be able to lower the high original poison pill offer, for a more realistic contract to Welker. Smart.

I agree. Odds are our seventh round pick won't make it on the final 53 man roster. We probably lost a practice squad player at best.

Let's not forget that Welker isn't being paid as just a WR. He'll most likely be handling all of the return duties, too.

The 219th pick is worth a more cap friendly contract IMHO. We didn't do it for charity, that's for sure.
