According to DraftDaddy.com, the Pats in hot pursuit of Briggs and hope that $$$$ will convince him that a 3-4 is not so bad. This is the 2nd time this week that I have read this on this site.
It also mentions that the Pats are in the Moss sweepstakes as well.
This site is very informative, but I am not sure of where the info comes from.

Does DraftDaddy mention that the Bears put the Franchise Tag on Briggs two weeks ago?

True, they tagged him, but it has also been reported that he wants to be traded. It would likley cost the 24 and a big contract.... essentially trading Branch for Briggs with Briggs being a bit more expensive.

Assuming we're talking about a trade for a #1, not the two #1, I kind of agree but it would be like trading Branch for Briggs + a little money (remember we offered Branch $6M a year). We'd all take Briggs over Branch in a second.
I don't buy the report since Adam Schefter said this morning that he spoke with all parties involved and Moss getting traded rumors are bogus. So I think this site is probably using second hand information for at least that rumor.
Well, who out there in the mass of draftable bodies will bring to the table what Briggs would, especially at 24 or 28???
No, if it can get done, I'd rather have Briggs, thank you.
Remember, you're not trading a first rounder for Briggs, if indeed that's the theoretical trade. You're trading five years of cheap talented labor and a lot of salary cap space for Briggs.
Fans of teams with very good personnel departments should be opposed to this trade. Fans of teams with personnel departments who make repeatedly bad personnel decisions cough...MattMillen...cough should be in favor.
Given that I'm a Pats fan, I'd rather have five years of the #1 pick and the eight million dollars in cap room to invest elsewhere rather than one year of Briggs.

Yeah, that's always the hidden cost. What upgrades could you not afford because your money is spent elsewhere?
I'm convincedthat is what kills the Redskins. They certainly have gotten enough top players over the years, but there has to be a trickle down effect where the bottom half of starters and most of backups are JAGs. Can you win like that? Not when teams today are geared to taking away the one best thing you do.
