Default Dillon/Maroney Red Zone Stats

I thought it might be interesting to note some of the red zone stats for the Dillon and Maroney from 2006.

Dillon
32 Attempts
13 First Downs
12 Touchdowns

Maroney
31 Attempts
10 First Downs
4 Touchdowns

There is a striking difference in touchdowns, but I think this has more to do with the fact that Dillon is getting the ball at the one yard line more often than Maroney does.

In fact, I can only recall two of Maroney's TDs being from inside the three yard line (vs. CHI, at TEN).

The sample size isn't too large for Maroney, but I hope he can replace Dillon's nose for the endzone.

Maroney will do fine. Now New England has no excuse not to give him the ball. He will be great.

I think Maroney will be OK, Dillon was the primary back on short situations, and Maroney only did it occasionally. His injury in the last part of the season did not give us a true feel for him. Another year of conditioning, and playing in the NFL will make him better. I also think we will pick up another back which will compliment him.
