Default On Seau and Bruschi

Alot of banter around here as to whether or not Seau and/or Brushchi will be back.

I for one see alot of value in bringing back both. I realize they are "older" and have "lost a step", but the character and leadership they bring is invaluable. They both still can play, and even though not to the level of yesteryear, that's O.K.

Would not it be great if the team does add talent at LB via free agency and/or the draft, but still had the depth of this type of veteran? I think definitely so, and would love to hear what you all think.

I think we are set to be great next year, if we (the Pats) play our cards right.

Until the Pats add a couple of good veteran inside linebackers to their

roster, they have no choice but to re-sign Seau and hope Bruschi comes

back. Even if the Pats sign a veteran, they can still use the other two

guys as part of a six man linebacker rotation.

Totally agree. Bring 'em both back for one last go - the influence they'll have/continue to have on Woods, Mays and whoever else we draft will be a bonus.

So this is what it feels like to be on the other end. Sweet!

Re: Bruschi and Seau...I'd love to see them both back. An infusion of younger talent combined with their leadership and experience would be key to another SB run.

Seau physically is still a solid run stuffing LB..

Bruschi has lost some mass (cant blame him after the series of injuries and the stroke he suffered) but your so right-- his vision/knowledge/leadership/fire inside is invaluable..both would be key pieces to another run.

The key to this premise is the talent that is acquired via FA or the draft. Bruschi is not an every down player and neither player can be relied upon to finish a full season. Bruschi is in my top 2-3 favorite player of all time but if the Pats have Seau and Bruschi starting at LB without a very high quality backup we should expect a repeat of this year (LBs exposed at end of year due to injuries and/or old age).

I definitely think so, too.

Best case scenario: Seau and Bruschi are backups behind a young vet FA ILB and a 1st-day draft pick ILB.

Izzo, Davis, Mays, Alexander...sayonara.
