Not sure what the answer is but I got really turned off by the posters on this site this year. NEM doesn't bother me, he's like the little boy that cried wolf. I do have to resist the urge to respond to him. It's the new Pats fan that bothers me, the ones that think every decision and game needs to be perfect and if we don't win the SB the season is a failure. There is no way to legislate against those fans. I guess there is not much you can do about that and if they represent the mentality of the fan base then its too bad but I guess its reality. Just like TV, reality is not reality. HUH?

Anyway, leave them alone, despite my distaste for their perspective they are entitled to it and we shouldn't deprive them of the opportunity to express their opinion.

What's the value in leaving a thread that's nothing more than:

You're a poopy head!

No YOU'RE a Poopy head!

x 1000? Either lock 'em as soon as they pop up or let each member of the usual gang of idiots and attention whores get 1 statement in the thread and then lock them.

I don't get involved in the posts/threads Andy is speaking of (btw thank you Andy, for asking);the only reason I posted here is because it was started by a mod and I was hoping it was a re-poll of the a-clown section lol
Seriously though,I've refrained from posting on a few good football threads because they had quickly turned from the original topic into a keyboard volley. That situation bothers me more than the obvious subjects which thankfully gives one the option of either reading for entertainment or skipping.
But with the fast and furious activity on this board and my tendency to only read the 1st or 2nd pages,I'd vote for locking, deleting,or moving them elsewhere.
Now that the offseason is here,I think doing something about it becomes that much more of an issue, lest they take over what few Pats topics we'll have.

There is no need for any middle ground, any compromises, all the people involved in this never ending fiasco are well aware of how they should be conducting themselves on this board.

One false move, and you are out.

To be anymore lenient suggests a lack of fortitude.

AGREED - I come to this board quite often and I come here for FOOTBALL talk only. This is a wonderful source of all breaking news about our favorite team as well as all kinds of Patriot related knowledge.

I never respond to the rediculous threads that get personal and spiteful.

Lock em down - I hate 'em.

I haven't been following football, or this blog, since the Patriots lost. Having seen bad pass interference calls and non-calls cost the team games in the playoffs 2 seasons in a row, I knew that I would only get in trouble if I posted when I was still that angry. So, as a result, I've apparently missed the NEM vs. the world stuff starting up again.

So, let me put it in generic terms: If NEM has gone back on his promise, he should be banned immediately and never allowed back. If he hasn't gone back on his promise, and the threads are people attacking him personally without cause, the threads should be locked. If the threads are attacking, but are about comments rather than personal issues, they should be allowed to continue.

That's my 2¢

I am an admin/mod in a couple of message boards. We had the same problem with people having back and forth discussions that crossed the line. Best thing to do is to open a different an uncensored section where they can go have those discussions. It's the best of both worlds it keeps this place clean of people swearing and crossing the line while at the same time it caters to the people who love this stuff. All they have to do is to go to that other subforum.

It worked in that forum I administer. Everyone will be satisfied.

Yeah, when I say it, I'm joking and it's fun, but when you say it is mean and spiteful. Perfect.

Ideally, it'd be good if you could just delete the offending posts but (understandably) due to time constraints and other responsibilities outside the forum, that's not always possible.

While it's kind of a shame to lock down what could be an otherwise good thread, lock them and put an end to it. And have a separate "B!tch Slap Forum" where these guys can all go for their textual slap fights and hopefully keep in out of the Fan Forum.
