Default Offseason Thought: Steeler's Cast-offs

Over at my blog, Fester's Place: http://www.festersplace.typepad.com, I am just going through the Steeler's roster with an eye towards the probable cast-offs that will occur due to the hiring of Mike Tomlin. Coach Tomlin is a 4-3 Cover 2 coach of the Dungy/Tampa-2 line. He wants to install the defense that he is comfortable with on his new team, and that makes perfect sense. However the Steelers' defense a 3-4 power scheme has personnel that don't fit the 4-3 Cover 2. Do you think that the Patriots would like to make a run at the following places who may be displaced by the change in defense?

DE Brett Keisel --- a little bit small for a 3-4 end, could be a very solid rotation player.

ILB Larry Foote --- young, fast and a good hitter with plenty of expience as a starter in the 3-4

OLB Clark Haggans --- good pass rusher and run edge setter -- most likely will convert to a 4-3 DE pass rush end.

DT/NT Chris Hoke --- a very solid back-up nose tackle for Casey Hampton, held the fort well when Hampton was injured in the 2005-2006 season

Foote would be a nice addition.

Sounds too much like Biesel to me.

They're keeping Dick Lebeau as DC so that means they'll probably keep the 3-4 too.

Even if Tomlin wanted to install a 4-3 he won't be able to for several years. Steelers just don't have the personel for it. Also, DC Dick Lebeau is staying on and why would he change it since the Steelers already have a very good defense?
