Default Dallas Clark

i dont know much X/O's or watch film and stuff but my general observation is that dallas clark is big key to the colts offense and has burned us on 3rd downs more than anyone...in fact during the time he was out due to injury the colts kinda struggled ..As much as everyone focuses on wayne and harrison , manning completes a lot of passes to clark, especially under pressure and he may be a big key in this game and how BB tries to neutralize him if possible

thoughts ?

With Stokley out Clark has been, in a sense, the Colts 3rd WR. He is a very talented guy so we need to prepare for him as a TE and a WR. When he is 100% healthy he is dangerous and has a nose for a wide open middle of the field. IMO to slow hit down you must keep hitting him at the LOS on passing plays to knock off his timing. It is a lost more difficult for a big man to then adjust and make up for lost time on the route.

Clark is great at finding the seam in the zone between the safety and lb. Of course he has a qb who is great at getting him the ball there too. If Manning hits him in stride, he is fast enough to at least run with a safety, if not beat him.

As a TE Dallas Clark is very good. As a #3 receiver he's not a threat. The more catches he has the better because it means Harrison and Wayne aren't getting the ball. His Catch% is 52% even lower than Watson's 54%. Clark's a non issue.

the thing about this game is that the pats front 3 is healthy.

last game seymour came back from the previous week of having his elbow bent the wrong way.

ty warren had a should injury.

i expect the d-line to be able to control the line of scrimmage and put some pressure on manning allowing more guys to stay in coverage.

those three(harr, wayne, and clark) will be tough

They use him (and Utecht) a lot like we use Watson, putting him in the slot, out wide, motion, then he's on the line in a three point. Tom Moore moves him around a lot because Reggie Wayne and Harrison each pretty much work a static side of the field, and consequently aren't motionable. They've gotten especially creative with him this year, with Brandon Stokley out.

We had a fair amount of success with Gates last time, kept him around 60 yards, by using safeties and inside linebackers and mixing up coverages. Stopping Clark will come down to people like Sanders, Bruschi, and Chad Scott, who as the nickel back drew a lot of Gates matchups early and was pretty darn successful.

He'll make some plays but as a #3 WR he's nothing. He's Football Outsiders' #17 ranked TE - that is not good for a #3 WR. Not that Watson has been better but our defense is far better than Indy's.

Clark is a big issue.

Unlike early in his career, the dude is fearless across the middle.

He will be very tough to contend with!
