As far as I know the US department of State has not declared the Charger's Bolt at midfield a national monument. And the way that I see it, you disrespect your opponent, expect to get it back. It is well documented how the Chargers talked down to the Pats the week heading into the game, incited them, talked about hitting Brady in the mouth, had created bad blood starting from their actions LAST YEAR etc.
What it boils down to is this. Shawne Merriman is no SAINT. He is a THUG, an ARROGANT PUNK, and a verified STEROID USER. And for LT to base his crusade off disrespect directed towards Shawne Merriman is simply LUDICROUS!
so you'd have no problem with some team doing the same to your midfield after a game?

If one of our plays insinuated that a few plays acting badly was because of their coach--who has proven in his overall body of work that he is a pretty respectful guy when it comes to the other team, believe me, I would have a problem with that.

ok that's fair, and yeah i do think LT shouldn't have even brought BB into this, you can't hold the head coach of a team responsible for every single thing a few of his players do

LT's self-righteousness is disgusting - the guy is a sore loser and just can't admit it. He makes up this whole "class" issue to deflect the attention of his own stupid actions.
There are jack*****es out there in the NFL that are a pain in the ass:
The TOs. The "Lights Out"s. To be honest, as big a jerkof*s as guys like that are, LT is way worse in my eyes. Nothing is worse than someone who pretends to be something they aren't. A guy like Merriman acts like a jack***** and makes no apologies. LT is all concerned about his "classy" image and tries to smear us in the process of keeping his image clean.
To hell with him, he's the lowest of the low, in my book. He's immature and childish, and maybe one day in the near or distant future he'll admit his mistakes, but until then, LT is a joke to me.
You hit on exactly what irks me about this as well. How can you stand there with a straight face and defend SHAWNE MERRIMAN of all people? Mr. "Lights Out" "I'm gonna hit Tom Brady in the face!" It's just really annoying. And you know the sad thing is that the people who look up to LT will be fooled by it and give weight to his words. Hell they've already given plenty of AIR time to it. A lot of these people will play along just because LT won the MVP trophy, so that means he's got to be right!! WRONG.
Put it this way. There's this real punk kid going around the neighborhood breaking things, vandalizing the streets, and stealing the other kids lunch money. LT is the guy standing up and saying "Don't you talk bad about my boy Shawne now! He ain't done no wrong. It's the people that bait him with their dances that have no class!"
I would like to end this by saying anybody that dares to publicly declare himself CLASSY is an egotist. Plain and simple. You want to smear the Pats because you lost? Don't try to hide behind some smug self-righteous "look at me I'm classy" and "you're not" attitude. That is the part that is most sickening. And it is way LOWER than any midfield dance, I don't care if the Pats had a TRAPEZE artist out there!

What that if a team came into Foxboro, beat us on our home field, and did a little dance? We'd get over it. I can guarantee you one thing though. There wouldn't be a single player from the Pats going on a self-righteous media crusade to SMEAR the entire organization that beat them. You want LOW CLASS LT? Try looking in the mirror!!

Everything youve said has been on point - I know this just a rehash of what you just said, btu I gotta say it b/c its so damn true...
god honest truth, if the Bolts came in here and won in Foxborough in a playoff game, and Merriman came in and did his stupid dance on center field after winning, you know what every single Pats fans and every single Pats player would do? They would just (Please be quiet - edited) b/c that's what you do when you lose.
The winners won the right to dance, the losers won the right to (Please be quiet - edited). End of story. No lie, no joke, that's the damn truth, and if a Pats player were to bytch about something as trivial as a dance after they had just blown an 8 point lead, I would be very, very disappointed in that player.
Did the Pats utter one word of nonsense after the Broncos beat them last year?
Re: Chargers fans are buying into LT's "no class" myth
I'm sure it's been said but haven't read it in this particular post... BUT...
Even aside from all the BS the Chargers seem okay with dishing out when they win, there is this to consider:
A "sack dance" is an inherently disrespectful, as well as egotistical, habit. That's why CLASSY teams don't display that kind of behavior. It's not only assinine and juvenile, it's a distraction, a lot like the elaborate TD celebrations on the other side of the ball.
Hey, "Lights Out," the whole joke is that you're a self-parody in the first place. Lady Tom, it's all good and well to want to have your teammates' backs... but it's been 24 hours now... don't you have golf to play or something?
Right now there's no counter-coverage in the media, because the Pats are locked down for the Colts (at least, I am not seeing anything in the national press.) Interesting turnabout... the Chargers, having lost, have decided to go on trash-talking, traditionally the province of winners. The Pats, having won, are (as Elmer J. Fudd said,) very, very quiet.
Re: Chargers fans are buying into LT's "no class" myth
I can't help but wonder why the hell we are wasting so much time on this subject.
Class or no class ... isn't that in the eye of the beholder? I mean - isn't it a completely subjective evaluation?
We'll never agree with the chargers about what happened and who had class or not. BUT WHO CARES?
Reality is: We won!
Reality is: We came to their house and took it all away from them!
Reality is: They think they gave it away and we didn't deserve it.
Reality is: They stunk!
Reality is: We're in the Conference Final!
Reality is: They're not!
The San Diego Charges brought so little to the game, that the ONLY thing the charges fans can argue is the relative "class" of a post-game celebration move.
They're not talking about our "lucky" win - because it wasn't lucky and they know this.
They're not talking about bad referees - because the refs were on their side and they know this.
They're not talking about injuries, bad playcalling (okay - perhaps that 4th and 11 call) or weather conditions - because it had no real impact and they know this.
They don't talk, because they know that they straight up LOST. They got beat, outcoached, outplayed, outworked. They met a team that wanted it more, and they LOST. Plain and simple.
That little bit of reality sent them into complete DENIAL. And all this talk about "classless" Pats is the only thing they have left as an excuse for not talking about their own poor performance.
WE don't need excuses!
WE didn't promise fans and media all sorts of joyous celebrations ahead of time.
WE didn't spend hours talking down our oponents.
WE FOCUSED!
WE kept grinding and grinding through that game, and when it came to CLUTCH, OUR guys stepped up BIG TIME.
WE WON IT!
We didn't "steal" it.
It wasn't "given" to us.
We came to their house and we TOOK it.
THEN we celebrated for a couple of minutes.
AND GOT BACK TO WORK!
On sunday, we are back in the CLUTCH, while the chargers are back in the COUCH.
Let's stop this mindless debating who has more "class", and get back to BUSINESS !!
