Seriously, it is good to have Brace in the mix. We know have two young backups from last year's draft.
Well, the slowest DE in the NFL is definitely not Ron Brace. I don't know who it is, but he is fast for a 325 lb man. If you go back and look at his scouting reports, quickness was actually one of his strengths, not weaknesses.

I think it's pretty obvious, from pictures, that Brace didn't show up in shape last year. He learned his lesson and is not the same guy, apparently.
He's obviously quick, but still might not be fast in the 40. When does a lineman run ten yards, much less 40, though?

Finally, this is a great debate to be having. We have lost Seymour and Ty Warren and seem to be solid at DE.
Well, its not one game its 2. And its not 'he played well' its that he phyiscally dominated the guy across from him. Owned him. You dont see that often. On top of that he showed awareness of where the ball was, and the ability to move constructively to the ball.
Contrast that with G Warren. He also uses srength and leverage to win the physical battle with the OL, andrarely gives ground, but he has really struggled with turning that into finding the ball and effectively moving to it, in position to make a play.
Whatever missing time has cost him on the depth chart I cant say, but if that is the case, as soon as he makes that up, he will be the #1 LDE on this team, because he is just the best football player we have at that position.
Again, normally I would say we need to see more out of a player than the amount of reps we have seen from Brace, but his play, in the limited amount there has been, has been excellent by any measure and any comparison.

I have no idea how fast he can run 40 yards, but the time it takes him to get from the LDE position to the QB or the LDE position to the area over the G-T on the other side of the ball in pursuit looks very comparable to any other 34 DE I've seen.
Ty Warren probably beats him in a 40 yard dash but didnt move within his area of responsibility any more quickly the last 4-5 years than what I have seen from Brace.

Lets wait until Ron Brace plays in the regular season before we make any assumptions. Not to say that I am not excited about his potential but we did play against a Ram's offensive line that was ranked toward the bottom of the NFL (28th). Just Saying.

Any word on where he had the MRI done? Or does anyone know if Gillette has its own extremity MRI unit or are players sent to local hospitals for exams?
Patriot MRI's are done at Shields MRI centers, or so the ads have said.

Thursday i focused on Brace for a series, i didn't pay attention to anything else. He seemed to be the last one to react to the snap of the ball on every play. I don't mean for this to be taken as a knock on him, ii was just an observation. Obviously if what i saw is true he makes up for his slow reaction time. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?
