Default OT: Some pundits pushing "anyone but VY" for rookie of the year

Many insiders have egg on their face after downplaying VY's pro prospects throughout the draft process. As a result there is a tendency in some quarters to downplay his ability, even now, in favor of the next best candidate. If there was a blunder on draft day, it had nothing to do with Reggie Bush. VY looks just as poised and dynamic in the pros as he did in college. The idea that Jones-Drew, or Colston, or Bush or Addai or anyone could be considered rookie of the year over VY, a franchise quarterback who has led his team back from oblivion to play-off contention, is laughable. It's time to face facts. Whatever VY does against the Pats, and it may not be pretty, he may be the best story in the NFL this year, with the possible exception of the Saints' revival. It's always great when someone proves prevailing wisdom wrong, and VY deserves a tip of the cap for holding up under adversity as a rookie. The whole draft process last offseason, when blind mice made VY jump through hoops like a 2 bit circus act, now seems ridiculous.

My choice would be Jones-Drew, he had the season I was wishing Maroney would have. Incredible production considering his amount of times he touched the ball. 13 touchdowns also. Scored all types of TD's, long runs, receptions, returns. He is short, but not small 5-7 212, I was hoping we would get him in the 3rd or 4th rounds (his projection), but Jacksonville snatched him up. VY needs consideration as well, taking a terrible 0-5 team to the brink of the playoffs. Addai has played very very well and Reggie Bush has quietly improved as far as being a runner, and his receiving is second to none as far as a rookie back. It's really going to be a tough call, Jones-Drew won't win it, but I feel he deserves it. Colston may win it.

I don't see how VY can not get ROY. To come in and completely change the whole culture of that team, I mean that is why Sean Payton is going to get Coach of the year and deservedly so, it should only be true for ROY as well.
I have loved VY since I saw the Heisman presentation last year. Everyone knew it was going to be Bush, yet when they announced it VY was like damn! but not in a rude way, you could just tell he really thought he had a shot. I thought right then he would be excellent in the NFL, in his heart he feels he is a winner, and there is no better trait to have.

If Vince Young doesn't get it then winning games is severely underrated.

Young shouldn't even be in the top 3. His passer rating is below 70, and there's no way you can say he was responsible for most of those wins, they could've had anyone in to perform as crappy as he did. Vince Young sucks and we're going to massacre him.

Vince Young is having a very good rookie season, but I would rank him behind Bush, Ryans, Colsten, and Jones-Drew.

FYI - Young's numbers are worse than Vick's in his first season as a starter. Up until Sunday, Young had thrown more INTs than TDs (and Vince had little to do with the Titans victory over the Jags).

Bush should be ranked behind Colston, Jones-Drew & VY in my opinion.

and if you don't you'll just say the Pats had nothing to play for and were looking towards the playoffs. We get it.

Either I'm watching the wrong sport, or you know way more about football than I've ever known. Vince Young sucks ???!?!?!?.......He's better than any QB we've ever had not named Brady & Bledsoe (and maybe Grogan). Passer rating doesn't tell the whole story, this is a 21 year old rookie, leading an NFL team, and doing quite well I might add. He may not be the best rookie, but he sure doesn't suck.

The guy is playing pretty well for a rookie QB with limited experience as a pocket passer. He's made some big plays with his legs and is poised in the 4th quarter.

That said, if you think he is the only reason they are winning games you simply are watching too many highlight shows and not the actual games. He's made big plays late in games but he is woefully inconsistent from play to play.

The defense and special teams have made a ton of big plays - they won the Jacksonville game with zero help from Young and the offense. Travis Henry is playing great football. It always takes a team to win in football and the idea that Young is carrying the team by himself is just hype.

I wouldn't have a problem if Young won ROY but he is by no means a no brainer for the award. There are a lot of great rookies this year.
