One of the Pre-game shows last week had an interview with Bill Walsh, and when he was asked what his biggest regret was, he said it was leaving the Niners too early, he said, we had a good young team, and I could have stayed around and won a few more SUperbowls. I can only hope that BB was watching.

I agree. IMO BB wants to win as many SB's as is possible by one coach. He's a super competitor and will want to leave a record that will be nearly impossible to match! Not to mention, I think he's very happy in his working relationship with the Krafts, now if we can just get Pioli to stay as long...

Now I know it wouldn't be BB's style to jeopardize the future of the franchise, but the mere fact that he keeps managing the team for the future and I mean like 5 years down the road future is a great sign that he is not planning in leaving anytime soon. I honestly have no idea how we will fit the 7-11 draft picks we are going to get this year onto this roster, I have to assume we are going to do a lot of moving around the draft board either for the year after or for better picks.

He's going to coach until he takes his last breath. It may be like Joe-Pa cruising the sidelines on his scooter, but he'll be coaching nonetheless.

What a downer. As you can tell I'm in denial and I try not to think about it. I'd have to think that he'd like one more SB ring before hanging it up.

He's said many times that he loves coaching. He'll be coaching in the NFL for maybe 15 or more years. Having a poll that implies 4 years is the longest he'll be coaching is ridiculous.

But BB was quoted in GQ as saying he wouldn't be Marv Levy either. I think he plans to retire but even he does know when. It was clear from his quote in USA Today that he still enjoys what he does. Let's hope he stays for a long time to come. It's possible the next Patriots coach might also be named Belichick -- Brian Belichick.

I polled as 4 more years but I believe the choices should have been longer.
BB enjoys coaching. I believe he knows that with this org he has a chance to make football history with more SB wins. Agree that throwing $ at the WR who-is-dead-to-me would have been an indicator of thoughts of departure. He didn't.

They talked about it on Four Downs with Felger last night. He and Borges seem to think he is signed through next season. Borges says he is hearing that the Texans will try to lure him down there and that he might be interested in the job. They also said that Dean Pees probably won't go to BC because he is the apparent successor to Belichick if Belichick was to leave.

Personally, I don't see it. I think Belichick will want to ride this wave as long as he feels he can win Super Bowls. I think if the Pats fell out of contention for a period of time, he might move.

If Belichick was planning to leave after this year or in a year or two, why wouldn't have paid Branch? Keeping Branch obviously would have given us a better shot at winning the Super Bowl and he wouldn't have to deal with the ramifications of his contract in terms of cap dollars or other players demanding those type of salaries when their contract is up.

Belichick is a relatively young guy. He still has kids in school. He has a good situation and must talk to Parcells and hear about the headaches he has dealing with Jerry Jones and his stupid moves (T.O. , Vanderjagt, etc.).
