Default Who Do We Cheer For - Denver or Indy - and Why?

Ironically, I will be in Denver from Wednesday through Monday, returning to Texas with plenty of time to watch the MNF game between the Pats and Vikings. I plan on watching the Denver-Indy game at my Denver hotel room Sunday afternoon. I'll be cheering (gasp) for Indy because we need Denver to lose and we will take care of Indy at Gillette the night of November 5. Am I wrong?

Who should we cheer for and why?

Here are my thoughts from another thread:

I'm in a quandry as far as who I want to root for in this game. I loathe both of these teams, but can't stand Denver just a little more, probably because there is a larger fear element involved. I'm really not too concerned about Indy.

I was oringinally thinking that I would cheer for Indy to win, because that would knock Denver a game behind NE (assuming that they beat Minny, of course). But then I realized that if Indy loses to Denver and then is taken down by NE, that would go a long way towards NE getting a bye. A #1 or #2 is not coming out of the North, and with a game advantage plus a H2H, Indy would have to win 2 more games than NE the rest of the way.

However, If I were to have to choose which team I would rather have as #1 over NE, it would be Indy. I wouldn't even need a second to think about it. So that is vote in Indy's direction

That said, Denver's division and future schedule are both much more difficult than Indy's IMHO. So, it is more likely that Denver wins and still doesn't get a bye than Indy, giving NE a better shot at #1.

Like I said, I'm in a quandry.

We should be rooting for Indy because Denver is the one team that we can't control our destiny with.

But **** that. I'll enjoy it if Indy loses way more than I will if Denver loses. Denver might own us but Indy is full of jackasses from Polian all the way down, argh I hate that team.

Cheer for Indy. They have the tiebreaker over us and we haven't played Indy yet so we could and hopefully will beat them and have the tiebreaker over them, Denver needs more losses than us.

I was leaning towards Denver, but now I'm thinking the Colts because we need to avoid Mile High at all costs. We need homefield to have any chance against the Broncos, even though it looks like that might not even help. I still don't see the Colts winning this one, especially after the Tennessee game. If the Colts do lose, I believe we will have to face that fact that the Pats have to beat Denver to get to the Superbowl. The days of trouncing Pittsburgh and Indy are over. Plummer is the only weakness I see in their game.

It's a really tough call.

Indy losing gives us a chance to distance ourselves from them if we can then beat them next week as we'd be a game ahead with the H-H tiebreaker in hand. That would give us a leg up on a bye.

Denver losing would get us right back in the #1 seed race (not that we aren't now but a Denver loss would help). However with Denver having the H-H tiebreaker against us we'd be neck and neck with a few teams just for a bye let alone the #1 seed.

I can't root for either of them. But I think I'd prefer to have Denver win and have the Patriots have the chance to really distance themselves from Indy the following week. Then hope Denver takes a few losses later.

Of course, it's all moot if the Patriots start losing games.

Indy all the way.

I believe Denver represent the most potent threat to the Patriots in the AFC, and we are already behind the 8 ball with them having lost what could turn out to be a tiebreaker game. I am pretty confident when faced with a similar possible tie-breaker against Indy in week 9, we'll win that one.

We need both to lose some games, but Denver in particular. I don't like the idea of January in the Mile High one bit.

You guys bring up some good points for rooting for Denver. But I like to have our destiny strictly in our hands rather than depending on other teams beating these guys. If Denver loses, our destiny is put back into our hands. If we don't lose anymore games we get #1 seed .

i cannot possibly root for Indy for any reason

Denver doesn't scare me in spite of recent history--Plummer sucks like Bledsoe...
