Default Reiss: Holt gets an injury settlement

So he's a free agent again if he gets better. Hm.

My thought exactly. We did the same thing with Larry Centers, IIRC.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

Knee surgery and quick recovery don't generally go together hand in hand.

I doubt the Patriots would have done this if they thought it would come back to bite them later in the season.

Maybe he disagrees re: needing surgery, or at least figures that he can put it off for one last season? That's what this would suggest to me, but I hope that it's not the case.

Isaac called it first in a thread several days ago. The Centers effect.

The way Reiss writes it up makes it seem like he is free to sign with any other team. This would seem a little odd but I am not sure what the rules are on signing back with the team that you injury settled with but I am sure I will soon

Now, with Holt getting an injury settlement, he could potentially play this season for another club if he returns to full health.
