Default Does Bill give Greg Ellis a call?

I think Greg Ellis is still out there, if I am not mistake.

Positives:

6'6

played in a 3-4 in the past

a DE

Negatives:

Only 265 pounds

34 yrs old

might ask too much knowing that Warren is IR'd

Do you guys think bill will show any interest?

He never played DE when they switched to a 3-4 in Dallas. He was an OLB.

If the Pats signed him, he'd be a DE in a 4-3 or LB in a 3-4.

I remember reading somewhere last year that the Patriots offered him a contract, but he declined for another team. I don't remember the context, however.

Ellis would play an OLB in the 3-4 which he really doesn't like playing. I wouldn't mind signing him, but he is not an answer to replace Warren.

Got a better idea - how bout Bill call his good friends Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton and get that monster rookie lineman Galette (sp?) from them. Guy singlehandedly kept Pats offense in check it seemed.

Greg Ellis isn't much of a fit here, certainly not at DE. He doesn't offer anything that Derrick Burgess doesn't have and can't play 3-4 DE.

I'd rather sit on the waiver wire and wait for some one-gap 4-3 team to cut a veteran DT who is a better fit for our scheme than theirs. Someone like Barry Cofield or Fred Robbins (though I haven't kept tabs on them lately). If that doesn't happen, then we go with what we have.
