Default Polian tosses his O-line under the bus...again

Quote:
Polian also explained that the team struggled with the running game in short yardage and goal-line, pointing to the failure to convert a third-and-one play late in the second quarter as a "glaring weakness" in the Super Bowl.

Polian also said that the Colts "didn't pass protect as well, particularly in the second half, as we are used to seeing." He said it's something that can be corrected by technique and personnel.

Manning's pick-6 has yet to be publicly described as a "glaring weakness" by Polian.

The way I see it, they won't fix problems that they refuse to identify, so on the field, at least, this works out well for everyone else.

It was particularly glaring because the pass protection was pretty good on that play.

Reporter: "Mr Polian, would you care to comment on the Manning pick-six play?"

Polian: "Look! Squirrel!"

Exits the interview.....

Wasn't that pic6 the intended receiver's fault? At least that's the excuse I've heard.

Depends who you talk to, there seems to be lots of excuses and people thrown under the bus since that game.

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."

Yup.... there's a lot of blood on those tires, and none of it is Manning's.

Idea for a Michael Silver column - "No deal for Manning as he is being traded for disgruntled Patriot's QB Tom Brady"

Oh, man, if nothing else, can you imagine the number of "comparison" articles in the nation's sports pages?

Yes, as I recall it was said that Reggie Wayne "misread Peyton's signal" and wasn't where he was supposed to be, so poor Peytie got picked through no fault of his own.

ETA: Although the Wayne Blame didn't seem to stick like the OL blaming, and the recent running game blame, and now the OL again...so maybe Wayne had the balls to stand up and say to Polian "Don't you put that s@#t on me!". I sure hope so, that would be awesome if he did!!!
