RB - If Bill can't find an improvemant over BGJE, then I would rather just keep 4.
WR - Agree, though I'm still unsure that WW is not better-served starting the season on the PUP.
TE - Agree.
OL - No way does Welch make the 53 over Ingram. My list stops at 9, and the 9th is btwn Bussey & OBurger.
DL - I'd remove G Warren and add Deaderick.
OLB - I'd remove Woods and add Crable.
ILB - Agree, though Murrell could still beat Arrington for STer.
CB - By removing BJGE, I can add Wheatley.
S - Agree.
ST - By removing Welch, I can add Ingram.

By all accounts, Gerard Warren was the starting DE opposite Warren. Still not sure if this is a bad thing or a good thing (depending on who is behind him).

He's running around, punting footballs, and generally participating in practice. In June. Why you would want to keep a Pro Bowl player out until late October is beyond me.

Gerard Warren, by all accounts, has been starting in minicamp.
I agree with you on Ingram. Every year there's someone out there who calls the LS, even if the Patriots have a very good one, a wasted roster spot, because "there's someone else on the team who can long snap." Well, it never happens. There are currently only one or two teams that do not have a full-time long snapper.

To make sure he is avaialble for the playoffs. Runing around kicking footballs in June OTA is not teh same thing as catching a ball going across the middle among safeties and line backers.
Why risk injury. He can start in preseason (august) or he can start in late October, and my vote is late October.
Also gives the Pats a chance to keep another WR on the roster for 6-9 weeks, and who knows? One of them could get hurt and it will turn out to be nice that Talyor Price isn't or IR or Torry Holt playing for the Bills.
I sin cerely doubt our 2010 season comes down to whether or not Welker plays 16 games vice 10. I hope not, anyway.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”
BB on his draft philosophy, April 2010
OFFENSE
A) I would give the 25th spot to a special teamer (Aiken) instead of BJGE.
B) Wanting to have Welch instead of Ingram as our DS is misguided.
C) I'm fine with Ohrnberger being the odd man out; but it could be Bussey or Larsen.
DEFENSE
D) I don't think we're keeping 7 DL's. As of now, I would expect G. Warren to be the odd man out. I also like Deaderick who could get the 53rd roster spot over Aiken.
E) Breer's nine are what I expect at this point. Crable does indeed have a shot.
F) I'd add Wheatley instead of the 7th DL.
In the end, there isn't much controversy, once we eliminate Welch. As always, there are lots of players competing for the final six roster spots.

Let's put it this way. The Pats would not be practicing Welker in meaningless May and June practices if they planned on sitting him out FIVE months later in September or October. Whatever is holding him back now will be ancient history by the regular season, which is still a ways away. The Patriots have never practiced a guy in minicamps (to my recollection) and then sat him at the beginning of the season. Those players are always on a timetable; it is progressive unless there are setbacks. LeVoir, Eddie Jackson, Chad Jackson, Troy Brown, David Thomas, Richard Seymour, and all others who have been on PUP in recent years were never seen in the summer.
Bottom line: your assessment of Welker's injury status is obviously a lot different than the Pats'. If they were planning on sitting him FOUR months from now (October), then they wouldn't be practicing him now. Period.

6-9 weeks of Wes Welker >>>>>>>>>>>>> 6 weeks of Torry Holt playing for the Bills.
Are you serious? You are essentially saying that you would rather have Torry Holt on the roster rather than Wes Welker.

You are dramatically undervaluing Welker and over-estimating his injury risk. If they had any substantial concerns about Welker re-injuring himself at this point, he wouldn't be within 100 feet of those practice fields for meaningless passing camps. History tells us that; any guy with any sort of offseason surgery or injury has sat out these camps and sometimes the beginning of training camp.

Agree on both counts.

It will come down to camp competition and preseason game performance.

I'm not really one for Gerard Warren either, but you can't discount the fact that he's playing with the 1s in camps so far. Deaderick is an ideal practice squad candidate; I would rather see Darryl Richard make the 53 than Deaderick. Don't get the fascination with him and the constant brushing aside of Richard.

I think these last few spots will come down to preseason injury situations. If there's a CB or OLB banged up, then they'll keep an extra guy there. But guys like Crable or Wheatley are pretty much interchangeable.
