Ravens | Team would like to acquire more picks

Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports the Balitmore Ravens are clearly prepared to move down from the 13th spot in the first round of the NFL Draft to acquire more picks. Director of college scouting Eric DeCosta did little to hide his displeasure over the Ravens having two picks on the first day of a deep draft. "I wish I had six," he said. If the Ravens drop from the 13th pick to somewhere in the low 20s, they probably would receive an additional third-round pick. General manager Ozzie Newsome even said the Ravens could be enticed to give up the No. 13 pick before they are on the clock. According to a league source, the Ravens' two most coveted players are Texas DB Michael Huff and Texas QB Vince Young, but neither is expected to slip past the top 10. Unlike any other draft, this one will be unusual for the Ravens because they must pick immediately after the Cleveland Browns and their general manager Phil Savage, who ran the Ravens' college scouting department for nine years. "I would love nothing better than to jump up over (Savage) and pick his pocket," DeCosta said.

That's exactly where I would think we would need to be if we covet Chad Jackson.

Not a chance. When BB mentioned, in his media statement, about there being so many players with one year or half a year of productivity... he was talking about players like Stovall and Jackson who have one good year to show for their careers. That's a big minus in Foxboro.
Over on the draft board, I posted a mock where I had the Pats trading up to the #13 spot for a LB. Ostensibly, this could be for Chad Greenway or Manny Lawson, but I had the picking... drumroll, please... Bobby Carpenter. It was not a popular idea.
But with the Browns looking to fill needs for a 3-4 D at #12, we'll be looking at leftovers at #13. We cant afford to wait for the Fins to take a LB at #16, the Eagles may be looking LB at #14, and both Minnesota and Dallas could be looking LB at #17 and #18. #21 feels too low to get the LB of our choice. Dallas, Cleveland and Miami, at least, will have the same valuation criteria for their LBs. Sure, there will be LBs available at #21, but will they project into our system-- or are the 3-4 LBs (guys like Greenway, Carpenter, Lawson, Wimbley) be off the board by that time?

Here is my thought and I mentioned this in another post.. It seems like the Front offices with a good track record are looking to move back and acquire extra picks (denver being the other). That being said, I think one thing should be recongized when Baltimore is looking to move back. This draft is deep and the solid foundation front offices want to restock their teams. PATS SHOULD HOLD STRONG AND NOT MOVE UP!

I have Baltimore in the interactive mock. They will be pounding sand until they improve their O-line.

Thats the issue, thats the players that the Ravens want, (I don't see why as they already have the best secondary in the league, and have much bigger needs (O-Line, LB's, RB, QB, WR). We could try to make a draft day trade for the pick if we see Huff is falling, and the Ravens think they want to grab Eric Winston/ Maroney/ Williams at 21, but if they see Huff dropping, they'll probably want to stay put. We could trade for the pick now, and HOPE Huff falls, but if he doesn't, who's worth it at 13? NOONE. That's why the Ravens want to trade out.
Let's stay put at 21, and take Cromartie, and trade up for whichever DE/ OLB hybrid falls to the top of the second, if none fall, stay put and take Darryl Tapp or Abdul Hodge.
