Default Meeting needs in April

As of April 9th the patriots had many, many needs, as documented (whined about) at length. Let's see how we did.

QUARTERBACK
ROBINSON - a developmental quarterback.

WIDE RECEIVER
HOLT - a starting top level WR to stretch the field opposite Moss
PRICE - a developmental WR (to compete with Tate)

TIGHT END
GRANKOWSKI - a first round quality solution
HERNANDEZ - a second round quality solution; he is also an h-back

OFFENSIVE LINE
LARSEN - the #3 center available as a devlopmental OL; 4th rounder per dryheat44
WELCH - a developmental OT; 6th round quality per dryheat44

RUNNING BACK
Clearly, the team judged that the time is next year. We already have a young starter, three solid veterans and a developmental back.

DEFENSIVE LINE
Lewis - a very good veteran
Warren - a JAG veteran, a former #1, should be a reasonable #7 DL
Deaderick - a late round DE that dryheat44 had as a late 3rd or early 4th round talent
Weston - a Practice Squad DT

LINEBACKER
Spikes - a GREAT ILB pick, may allow us to try Guyton outside (we also have McKenzie)
Cunningham - our young solid OLB

DEFENSIVE BACK
McCourty - We needed a corner; the value was there in the first; belichick got his man and
in effect picked up a 2011 2nd rounder by moving down in the first.

PUNTER
Mesko - long hang time and the best at dropping the ball behind the 20
=================

BOTTOM LINE

Are you kidding???!!! We got almost evertything we wanted for Christmas.

We didn't get a premier pass-rusher. I take it that Belichick didn't like who was available. And we didn't get a the 4th round running back that folks wanted, even though such a player probably wouldn't have played much in 2010 (we'll take care of RB next year).

We met our needs. We ended up with 6 top 100 players (per Gosselin) and a starting punter!

They haven't come close to meeting the DE need. Also, I don't expect that any o-lineman drafted this weekend is the answer to "who can step in when Neal goes down and really hold down the fort?" for this season.

You missed Kyle Love at DT and Sergio Brown at safety

True. The Pats still have concerns at OL, DE, and OLB. I think they're better off than last year but probably not an SB contender yet. Hopefully there are still more additions to be made.

Went back and updated it, then saw your post. Do not know anything about Brown.

Why? Because they didn't land Seymour 2.0? Lewis is functional. Warren is big enough to do something constructive.

Neal going down is a concern no question. BB would not have resigned him had he felt a replacement was on the roster.

Kindly list all the great games Lewis has had in the 3-4 during his NFL tenure.

As for Neal going down not being a great concern, come on. Anyone watching this team since 2007 knows that's not true.

And Warren has been crap in Cleveland, Denver and Oakland. Odds are very good that he'll be crap in New England, too.
