* The way the NFL works these days the 1st day picks almost have to be good contributors.

Thank you for establishing that you aren't a Pats fan. Your a moron.

1) Randall Gay being healthy would have made a difference.
2) Anyone who has to rely SOLELY on free agency to put a good team together is hurting ANYWAYS.
3) Getting Traylor and Josh Miller was a very good off-season considering the Pats had limited cap money available.
4) Considering the limited amount of money that the Pats had and the fact that Beisel wasn't expected to be a starter right away and Brown was brought in to play OLB, but was switch to ILB, the off-season was actually pretty decent especially for the limited funds available. Scott played well until he got injured.
5) A massive mount of injuries to starters is what cost the Pats last season. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Good point. There's no doubt they gambled on some athletic projects rather than the type of player they usually draft.

Wise at the time because we didn't have much roster space so we gambled on players with great size or speed. (Bethel, Marquise Hill and Watson).

They might all work out, but I'll guarantee the players they draft this year will "get it" even if they lack the measurables. Proven performers.

Hard to argue with you 54 about their offseasons. And, I agree with some other posts that WR is vitally important. Again, it's only March, and alot will happen between now and camp.

I figure since they had three starting rookies this past season (Mankins, Kazcur, and Hobbs), and they have a better draft position this year, that they should do well. Time will tell.
