Default Maybe the Pats should shoot for a piece of the action

On Marshall, Seahawks should consider an offer sheet end run | ProFootballTalk.com

sign brandon marshal to an offer sheet, effectively giving up the #22, and then trading him to seattle for the #14

The Pats could include their 5th round pick with Marshall for the 14th overall. They seem to like to throw the 5th round picks away, anyway.

Neither BB nor RK would do anything so borderline unethical. They have to live with the other 31 owners and their coaches. Talk about a PR nightmare!

the cameras beg to differ

what's unethical? denver is refusing to even discuss a deal with the seahawks...I guess its their right, but like any other situation.....if they want him, they should sign him and if they don't they should deal him and not hold him hostage

don't sweat the ethics....nobody in the NFL does

To think BB would actually try to pull this off, I would guess you are probably "tanked_as_usual".

Why should we help Denver get anything for the player...unless Seattle wants to throw Branch in for our trouble...

Somehow I doubt Florio has this right since while parting with the #6 may not be something Pete wants to do, getting the #6 vs. #14 would not seem to be a dealbreaking goal for a BB disciple in likely the last uncapped rookie contract draft...

And I would think any team signing a player to an offer sheet as an end around risks being stuck with him if something unexpected transpires in the week leading up to the deadline to match. Given this jerks track record, maybe he gets another teamate killed in the interim...

Plus, Kraft isn't going to do a poison pill deal for himself so he's not going to do one to screw with a BB protogee who has played nice with us since departing.

And how would you structure this contract in order to get Marshall to sign the offer sheet WITHOUT costing the Patriots at least $2M in signing bonuses that they would have to pay? [Remember, NFL trades don't involve cash.]
