I can't deny the dropped balls, the "I" player, and his age. (It would be a 1 year deal anyway).

I think T.O gets his attitude when the team isn't performing well, which correlates to him "not getting enough balls, as people say he whines about".

He went bad in Philly when they were mediocre the year after they lost the superbowl.

He went bad during the 9-7 season when Romo made too many mistakes and got blown out by 30 points to the Eagles on the season finale.

At the rate things are going, the only new receivers we're going to have behind Moss, Welker, Edelman, and Tate are rookies,Slater, Stanbeck, and Aiken (shudders). Belichick better step it up and sign Josh Reed and AT LEAST 1 more decent veteran receiver. Then we'll leave the rest to the draft.

I was curious about this. In 2005, the Eagles were 4-3. Then TO exploded and was gone for good. Prior to that, he was having a very good year numbers wise. Then McNabb went down in mid-Nov and the wheels really came off.

I don't disagree. But after last year, the team needs guys it can count on for 16+ games. TO is not that guy.

The Pats should sign T.O.. Yes, I'm not a fan of old players but this guy keeps himself in top physical condition which he learned from Jerry Rice. Also, I'm positive he's over the "me" first attitude as I'm sure he realizes a team isn't going to sign a 36 year old WR to be their #1 option. You have to be in real denial to think that. And he still caught 800 yards from the musical chairs they call QB's in Buffalo. Sign him to a one year deal and draft a WR early.

He blew up in Philly b/c of his contract, criticizing management and McNabb. They deactivated him for the rest of the season and then released him.

In Dallas, he was supposedly upset that he wasn't getting enough looks on offense. He claimed that Romo favored Witten because Witten and him were best friends.

I can't make the excuse for him that when the team is "going bad" he becomes a problem. Everything was going great in Philly, and BEFORE the season even started he criticized McNabb for wearing down in the Super Bowl. Then he proceeds to complain about his contract in the middle of the season, being a huge distraction to the team. The guy is a jackass, and at the age of 36, he's not even in his prime anymore and therefore not worth the trouble at all. What happens if Welker comes back and Owens becomes the 3rd option at WR? Let's say Moss gets 7 rec, Welker gets 10 rec, and he only gets 2 rec. You don't think his huge ego and overwhelming self confidence would get in the way? He's just not worth the trouble.

In his last four stops, he has battled with coaches, QBs, other WRs, and disrupted the huddle on the field at each and every stop. He is an immature baby. He is not a man.

He fought in SF, Philly, Dallas and last year in Buffalo, he took Edwards' balls and stomped on them for the whole team and all the fans to see, right there on the field in the middle of a few games.

When you see Manning throw to Collie, Garcon, Gonzalez and the like, you realize he's a vet who commands respect, and those kids bring it. Brady is the same way, and when he's had a chance to play with young talent like Deion Branch, he's shown the same capability that Manning has.

If the Pats start out 3-5, T.O would be saying things left and right. I'm pretty sure many other players would be, and pats fans would be rioting. 3-5 won't happen.

T.O may be crazy, but this is how I look at the UFA WR's left.

I think Mason would be a great fit here. TO...not so much. Sure the idea of him and Randy on the same field is exciting, but then you think the whole thing through. Two recievers near the end of their careers, who have constantly been compared to each other through the years. Mix in the Welker part of the equation and you have locker-room nuke city. I can't see TO keeping those trouble making gums of his shut for more than two games of Randy/WW/TO (assuming WW comes back near the form he was in prior to houston). On the other hand, how would you defend that?

This. I want Owens to come here, myself, but I am also realistic and don't see any way in hell that he does. Really wanted Bryant as well but that's the way the cookie crumbles. He and Ochocinco should make a great receiving duo in Cincy unless Palmer has a season like last year's. I would be all for bringing in Mason but, at this point, I really can't see us doing that either. Looks like we're looking at a receiver early on in the draft.
