He's a good player, and I'd hate for the Jets to lose him. But if we have to, having a bunch of teams interested is useful; the more year 1 salary we can give, the better.

6'2 292 lbs. Is he really long enough to be a Pats 3-4 end?

He's been a 3-4 DE his entire career.

The question in this case isn't his size, it's what he looks like on tape against Light and Kaczur & Co. - I imagine he did okay if NE wants to chat.

Is he really an improvement over Wright? He still seems undersized for me.

I think the Pats prefer guys in the 6'6 Seymour mold for DE. And this guy is even 2 inches shorter than Warren who stands at 6'4. He doesn't seem to fit the Pats desired prototypical size, so I'm thinking if this guy were brought in, it would be for a backup role.

Douglas was a solid player for the Jets - held his ground well, strong against the run, and did his job controlling the gaps. Not a stud, but a decent starter and an excellent rotational DE at worst.

There's "fit" in terms of projecting, then there's fit in terms of "been there, done that, got the scar to prove it." It's not always about replacing a starter or projected starter, making the camps competitive helps too.

He's a 3-4 journeyman, more likely a possible Green replacement than a "starter". If you're looking for a good replacement at RDE I don't think this is the place to look.

Yeah, no way this guy who was a solid part of the defensive line on the best defense in the league last season would be a good signing at all.
