The only ways Wilfork leaves the Pats this year is either he is franchised and traded or the he is franchised and a team signs him and the Pats refuse to match the offer and the team just gives up two first round picks. Any other scenario isn't based in reality.
are you really that stupid or just pretending.........a very real scenario is a repeat of asante samuel where the only way the pats get him to show up under the tag is a promise not to do it again the next year...then he is gone for a 3rd rounder....but you knew that

• If the player is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries of last season at his position, or 120 percent of the player’s previous year’s salary, he becomes a “non-exclusive” franchise player and can negotiate with other clubs. His old club can match a new club's offer, or receive two first-round draft choices if it decides not to match
Well, if he is a non-exclusive, Wilfork has no other option but to play for the Pats. Players rarely get that tender offer. Wilfork might.

What the hell has happened to some of the (formerly) good posters around here? So many of you have gone to pot. It's not some imaginary universe, it's the real universe where "worst case scenario" was mentioned:

worst case scenerio we tag him then ship him OUT of the divison and ideally, conference.
There's actually a scenario even worse than Vince walking as a free agent, but that would be the Patriots slapping the tag on Wilfork and then Vince going down for the season even before game one, and I didn't want to be that dark. Since you felt the need to make the snide remark, though, there you have it.

Talk to me in late August. That scenario is a long way away and may never happen even if Wilfork signs his franchise tender.

I agree what happened to you. The worst case scenario is either Wilfok plays for the Pats another year and leaves for nothing since the Pats agreed not to franchise him in 2011 or Wilfork sits out for 10 games and becomes a franchised player in 2011. Neither of those scenarios are what you stated. Having Wilfork for another year and then losing him for a compensatory pick is a lot different than just letting him go far a compensatory pick. Maybe if you were clear about that, I wouldn't have mocked you.

That was the Patriots' choice. After they Franchised him they could have traded him to a team willing to sign him long term - which would have happened as he was coming off a big season. The Patriots chose the "one more season and a comp pick" route.

You "mocked me" because you didn't bother reading and you just posted the same sort of bullcrap you've been posting lately. The worst case scenario, other than the sign/injury, is that the Patriots just let Wilfork walk this season, and take the 3rd round compensation. That's the worst case, not the crap you're spewing.

Yeah, I personally think the Pats never really valued Samuel. I think in hindsight it was a mistake, but I think they felt that Hobbs could have been just as good if they gave him a chance. The Pats could have had him for a bargain a year before he was franchised and they weren't willing to give him a deal.
Wilfork may be another story. They may not be willing to give up up in 2011 for nothing just to get another year out of him.

one could also say that they had to do it in order to get samuel to step onto the field

Then again, you've gotten so cozy up in Belichick's jock lately that it's probably difficult to see the light from where your head is.
Yes, someone doesn't agree with you, it is bullcrap. Same old BS. But now that you aren't a Patriots homer and take their side on everything and done a 180 and want to trash them for everything, you think my posts are bullcrap. Sorry, I haven't changed one bit.
Call me a homer if you want, but I haven't changed at all. My stance on Belichick has always been the same, I haven't agreed with some of his moves, but he has earned my trust in him until this team totally implodes. And only in a spoiled Patriots universe would 10-6 and a division title be considered totally imploding.
You have gone from sounding like the Big Show to sounding like Felger and Mazz.
