Default Defense wins championships!

Let's here from those who think that
1) resting players loses a team its edge
2) the key to winning isn't a great offense
3) the bye week doesn't mean much
4) the first seed and home field advantage doesn't mean much
===============================================
What I learned was
A) that no matter how good your offense, you have to take care of the football. 6 fumbles and 2 interceptions is ONE too many. After all, Favre could have walked for ten yards and likely won the game.
B) getting too many defensive backs injured puts you in a position to lose games against Manning and Brees
==================================================
Yes I understand that it was the great NO defense tha made the difference, giving up only how many yards and points???

Can't really draw conclusions from single games IMO. Jets played pretty well, but the Colts are a better team. The Vikings just fumbled the game away.

Over the long haul, balanced teams with great defenses probably perform better in the playoffs relative to the regular season.

Still doesn't mean a great offense can't get off and bury anybody, but i think great defenses finding a way to stop and disrupt an offense is a playoff staple.

You just can't credit a defense with causing 6 fumbles, that's lack of focus.

We have now had a thread that *everything individually* wins championships. After game one it was OL. Jeez, people, it's a combination of all the ingredients, there's no one magic bullet.

Have a look at our 2004 payroll breakdown compared to our 2009 payroll breakdown.

Most of our money is committed to the offense now.

We arn't the team that won those superbowls.

Defense does win championships, the AFC champs have given up 20 points in two games, their offense has been on Fiyaaa though. For the first Time since 1993 both number one seeds are going to the superbowl...
