If they saved their best football for January, they can go all the way. Welker's loss hurts BUT for the first time in a while we are fully healthy on both lines and Brady has had plenty warmup time. The playoffs are won in the trenches and even without Welker this team is equipped for playoff football.

You already have your answer. See the 2008 Colts.

I have said this to people and got laughed at but we can win it all..there have been alot worse teams to win it all(not saying we are a bad team by any means)we have Brady and Billichick and as long as they are there we have a shot at winning.I enjoy being somewhat of an underdog we are dangerous and the other teams know and they will dread playing us weither it is at Foxboro or anywhere else..

Wow.

If a year of misery is advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs, what labels do you give to the 24 teams that don't get that far?

Pats 24, Ravens, 20
Pats 31, Chargers 28
Pats 30, Colts 27
Pats 31, Vikings 27

If if wrong, life goes on. If I'm right, its a helluva great ride.

I don’t agree. The 2008 Colts had at least 5 solid regular season wins: Vikings (10-6), Ravens (11-5), Patriots (11-5), Steelers (12-4), Titans (13-3) and also beat the Texans twice (8-8) and the Chargers (8-8). What are the Patriots good wins this year? I count two: Ravens (9-7) & Jests (9-7). You want to throw in the Falcons (9-7) and the Panthers (8-8) to make it four?

My point was more or less that that team didn't start out so hot, even going on a losing streak. They certainly didn't look like the Colts everybody was used to, and they got raked through the coals on this forum. Even when they went on the winning streak everyone still said they sucked.

That is telling as that team went 12-4 and had strung together plenty of what would be considered "solid" wins going into the post season. This team has not been as good as the 2008 Colts heading into the post season - but it is a new season now.

This year reminds me so much of the Reche Caldwell year. That year we had no receivers(really). This year we have 1. That year we were kind of "so-so".
This year about the same.

But with all that said, we were 1 first down, then 1 stop from beating Indy.(and we would have beaten Chicago in the Super Bowl.

So I think this team CAN get to the superbowl, but it is going to take a really clean mistake free effort for 3 games.

The difference is that year we had a much superior defense than the one that we have now. We had an experienced group on the defensive side of the ball that knew what it took to win a SB. This group probably isnt nearly as talented and doesnt have the experience that that group had.
