As I suggest earlier this week, I would had the follwing players inactive:
Brady, Moss, Welker, Wilfork, and Warren. I liked adding Bodden and Maroney as Belichick did.

I agree with this. NO ONE deserved to sit more than Welker.

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I understand it was fluke but he never should have been there. Give Edelman the snaps.

He's taken more shots than Jenna Haze

Whether or not he should have or shouldn't have played is irrelevant now. Let's all hope that Edelman can take a big step up the next (hopefully) four games.
I think you are right here for the most part......the biggest question here is.....WHAT was BB's intention going into this game? Was he going into it to WIN it and get the 3rd seed? ......or the 4th seed like most of the talking heads seem to think we would be best playing for it.......Now, I was not surprised to see him start Brady, Welk, Moss etc.....but just did not expect them to not only stay in the game for such a long time...and I certainly did not expect them to COME BACK IN after the backups had replaced them........again, no one is in the Brain of BB.....but hard to figure exactly what he was trying to accomplish.....losing welk was huge.....but there are so many holes on this team right now....from OL weakness to secondary failures.....that we weren't going to get much further anyways....that is the reality of it

Me as well, and might have added Neal to that list knowing how easy he gets hurt.

Whether the injury was 'freak' or not, a guy like Welker gets exposed to harm in meaningful games as it is. You expose him in meaningless games and his injury odds goes up even more. And all for nothing but an extreme outside chance to host the AFC championship after 2 major playoff upsets in round 2.

I can understand ( I guess) BB sending the 1st team out there at the beginning
What is beyond my comprehension is allowing the possibility of Brady and Moss getting hurt late in this meaningless game
It was clear early on that Houston meant business today and with Pollard on the field there was every possibility of chippy (cheap) hits on wide recievers.
Rotating the OL produced horrible run blocking and stifled any chance of the Pats controlling the game. It also exposed Brady to needless hits while taking those 7 step drops ( that shot on the late INT was ridiculous)

Today's disaster was a combination of bad luck (Welker) and a series of inexplicable personel decisions. The OC, the DC, and most of all BB sunk this ship as sure as the iceberg that nailed the Titanic.

If the Ravens do turn out to be next week's foes then Wilfolk and Warren and the rest of the Dline better play the game of their careers. No pressure means Flacco eats up our Dbacks all day.

My guess is 5 wide on offense with a lot of 3 and outs.
Brady looks for Edelman and kid won't deliver.
No running game even attempted (Thanks O'Brien)

Our defense gassed late and we lose by a touchdown after leading for 3 quarters.

Sound familiar?
It should

I still think every starter who is healthy should start for at least one or two series in this game like most teams approach the fourth preseason game. In that case, Welker would have still been injured.

Except the logic doesn't work since he wasn't hurt on a hit. Anyone could have suffered that fluke injury and it seems like one of those injuries that was waiting to happen. If it doesn't happen then, it seems like it is just as likely to happen in practice when he makes his first cut. Obviously there was something wrong with the knee besides making that simple cut.

I thought it was pretty obvious. It was at that point I knew Welker was done. I assumed Brady went in there to get more real game experience with Edelmann in the Welker position.

I posted early this week that I would sit Brady, Moss, and Welker. The Patriots could have used Aiken, Edelman, Stanbeck, and Slater at WR (like they did after the 2 minute warning today). It wouldn't need to be an "either or" decision between Moss and Welker resting.

Coach Belichick made his decision and this time it didn't work out.
