Default Post-Week 15 AFC Playoff Picture - Pats take 3rd seed [merged]

Top 4, assuming Patriots win out:

1. Colts
2-4:
If Bengals lose to KC or JETS, the Patriots are ahead, otherwise Bengals are.

Also, unless the Chargers lose BOTH remaining games, they keep #2. Otherwise, they drop. Bengals/Patriots move up to claim it. Thus, the Patriots still have a shot for #2.

5-6:
Miami, Pittsburgh, Denver, or Ravens. Titans are also possible if they beat the Chargers and Seattle.

Both Houston and Jacksonville can still get wildcard spots as well.

I just don't want to play SD in SD. Any scenario that avoids that is okay with me.

Those are the last remaining teams we play, and this assumes the Patriots win out.

Okay, that's only partially correct. Bengals no longer have a shot at the #2 seed. And if the Patriots and Bengals both win out, it will come down to strength of victory which no one knows yet. Also, Texans, Jets, and Jaguars are still alive.

The Steelers have a legit shot at the playoffs now that I think about it. Baltimore will probably get the 5 seed and there arent' any other teams that have a firm grip on 6 right now. Denver has to play @ Philly next week, that is likely a loss.

Better to end this next week @ Foxborough.

They need Wilfork back next week! Jags are a running machine.

Cannot have that rookie, Brace play against the Jags.

Patriots should keep the "moving DL" for next week. That confused the Bills and probably the Jags.

If Patriots win 2 more games, they are the 3rd seed (I think).

Incorrect. If the Chargers lose both and the Bengals win both, they're #2 according to http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario. Thanks about the Jets.

Regarding the Patriots guaranteed #3 if they win out, if the Bengals win out, they're tied, and the Playoff Scenario Generator seems to give them the #3 spot in that case.

Current Strength of Victory Standings for the #3 Seed.

So we're up a game and a half, if Carolina wins tonight we'll be up 2 and if they lose we'll be up 1.
