You nailed it, that's all he ever was. If he can play teams, improve his receiving, maybe play fullback or run back kicks in a pinch, he could be Patrick Pass without the attitude, which ain't bad at all.
Maybe a good short yardage back to complement Maroney (if Maroney keeps it up).
I rooted for him to make the team because he earned it, but expecting him to have all pro talent is pretty unrealistic IMO.
He had some great games last year when he started, e.g., Indy. I think it is unfair to designate him #5 or try to attribute him before he's had any real chance. His efforts in the preseason was discounted by this board because he was "playing third stringers." So either way he's never had a fair shake.

I get it. You think that Green-Ellis has done great when he has played. I'll just say that apparently Belichick disagrees or he would use him more. We have had Morris and Taylor out for several games each and still we haven't heard much from Green-Ellis. As our coaches have taught us, "it is what it is".

He had some good games. Corey Dillon has had some great games.
...I think we get another year out of Taylor, Morris, Maroney and Faulk with a new body brought in next year - a rookie who is more versatile in the running and passing game like Faulk is. Perhaps Morris goes also??? He has been dropping balls he used to catch before.Thoughts?
At this point, I don't expect both Morris and Taylor to be back next season. I expect that at least one of them will move on.

Like I said, it seems like he never gets a fair shake on this board. Hopefully next year he'll get his chance.

Actually, i think he gets more than a fair shake around here. As one of the many members of the "lawfirm fan club", i would love to see him get more carries. BUT, I do realize the guy is on the bottom of the list. He's fought hard to make the team, but that isnt always enough. I still cannot believe that Ray Ventrone was cut. I suspect this will be Lawfirms fate next TC as well.
I also agree with those who say Taylor, and Morris could be gone next year. I'd like to see Maroney , BJGE, Faulk, and a rookie version of Dillon
I just wanted to say that I don't see where he has progressed this year. I was in the hoping he would make it BJGE club. But I don't see it.
...
Thoughts?
It had to have been the name.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis...I mean the guy was destined to be either a Nobel Laureate or a Patriots running back, the Pats being the franchise of Harvard and MIT and a bunch of other really fine schools.
Seriously, I don't know whether Taylor will either be able or want to play more. I don't know the contract status of Morris and Faulk, but I'm really pleased that Maroney has emerged as a solid and reliable RB and quieted his many critics.

I still never got the love for BJGE. He reminds me of Mike Cloud in a lot of ways. Had one great game and a spectacular preseason game against a bunch of guys who aren't even in the league anymore and people were talking cutting Maroney for him.
Yes, I know whenever he gets on the field, he plays awesome (well except for all those games that people ignore where he does nothing when he is on the field), but he is nothing but a JAG who most likely will be out of the league in a year or two.
