I think they are close to getting things clicking, and if it comes together at the right time... one can only hope.

At this point, the only thing that matters is if the potential is there to make a run. In the past 10 years, the only team that actually won and looked like they should win was the 2003 Pats. That's also the onlt #1 seed to win the past 10 years:
2008 Steelers blown out in Tenn this week, Cards went 9-7 blown out by Pats week 16.
2007 Giants were 10-6. Blown out week 15 by Redskins.
2006 Dolts lose 3 of last 4, get absolutely run over. How was anyone ever going to beat the dominant Chargers/Ravens?
2005 Steelers 7-5 and on a 3 game losing streak.
2004 Pats suffer dreadful one point loss in Miami.
2003 Pats good
2002 Bucs go 3-2, have absymal week 16 loss to Steelers
2001 Tuck Rule
2000 Ravens are wild card
Actually, this might be for the best since the teams hoisting the Lombardi seem to be going through late season travails then focusing. If this team is focused, there is no team that can't be beat.
