I spoke at length to a fellow Pats fan at Zip's tailgate who'd had the same surgery. Absolutely so, you need to change your diet for the surgery to succeed. Fortunately, the fan had lost well over 100 LBS post surgery but he opined that Charlie had undone any benefit from the surgery.
