You know what? We have gotten sick and tired of giving the lofty PD Game Ball to opposing quarterbacks after losses (Peyton Manning, for example). After his 371-yard, five-touchdown performance, Drew Brees deserves a mention, but we’re taking our Game Ball and going home, so to speak.
Yes, Drew Brees is an impressive quarterback. Sure, he’s the most accurate passer the Patriots have faced and (Heavens allow) will face this season. But I’d like to think that, given a wide-open receiver downfield, even I would have scored a TD against what passed for a New England secondary Monday night.

Re: PD - Game Ball (Maroney), Take a Lap (Secondary)
I don't mean to argue with a website, but for every lap the secondary takes, Pees and O'Brien need to take five … while balancing cinderblocks on their tongues.

I was going to say the same for O'Brien and the OL. Not to say Brady didn't have a piss poor game himself. The first pick and missing an open Aiken. Failing to get in FG range at the end of the first half. Hope he's gotten it out of his system.
Re: PD - Game Ball (Maroney), Take a Lap (Secondary)
I think the entire defense needs to take not just one lap, but maybe a thousand. I have never in my life been so embarrassed by a Patriots defense. That blown coverage leading to Henderson being wide open was ridiculous, it looked like a shoddy high-school defense out there.
I don't think this one is on Pees. We have all (rightfully) complained about him and his terribly conservative play calling, but this game was lost because of a lack of execution. We all know that you can't win if you consistently Blitz Brees, so you have to rely on your front 4-5 to be able to get constant pressure. We simply don't have good enough linebackers to rush the passer and no secondary will hold a Drew Bree's or Peyton Manning if they have time.

This is the year. We put our failures in the past, it's a new year, a new defense. It's time to prove to the league that the Patriots are back and aren't going anywhere and they will be the last ones standing in Feb.
Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

Re: PD - Game Ball (Maroney), Take a Lap (Secondary)
definately a solid effort by Maroney, perhaps the only bright spot of that game. Its too bad the game got out of hand because he was running with some attitude. I still don't trust him but I'll give credit where credit is due.
As for lap takers, its a big crowd. I'd send the entire defense along with the OL. I can't remember a BB defense that looked so overmatched. The Saints could have scored more but played a run out the clock game down the stretch.
