Default Our next opponent - J E T S

It's two days past the last game and I wish we can get back to discussing the next opponent.

Jesters fans are slowly morphing into two divisions: one thinking that the players are going to rally around crying-ryan and stuff the Pats, the other going back to the smirk "i-told-you-so" and waiting for the Jets to continue their spiral.

I would like to think that the Pats players are also circling the wagon after a stringing loss and the scathing rebuke of BB by much of the media sports 'experts'. Hopefully this will make them bent on playing far better in the next game, which anyway is a 'revenge-game' on a division opponent who beat us the last time. With Welker in and Jets missing Jenkins and Washington, I think we should beat them comfortably.

However, will our D be demoralized at the so-called lack of confidence by BB and so play without a spark?

What do you guys think?

New England Patriots Blog - Ten things to know about the Jets - ESPN Boston

Quote:
7) The Jets are defined by their pressure defense. According to ESPN's Stats & Information, they have brought five or more rushers on 58.7 percent of opponents pass plays, an NFL high.

9) Their pass defense ranks third in the NFL in terms of fewest yards per game (170), while the rush defense is 18th (111.6).

10) For teams like the Patriots struggling in the red zone, the Jets are a tough matchup. They are tied for fourth in the NFL in red-zone defense, with opponents scoring eight touchdowns in 20 trips
these things concern me about the jets. it was clear that when the pressure got to the offense in the colts game they werent able to execute much

Maybe they'll be demoralized at allowing 30 yards without forcing as much as a 2nd down until the Colts were at the 1. Nothing Belichick did should get them down, their folding like a deck chair is the bigger issue.

Thanks for pointing it out. I had conveniently forgotten about our red-zone woes.

I am able to salute Manning for pulling off such great drives and don't feel like coming down hard on our D.

But I get livid when rookie QBs also come make a lot of great plays against us. In fact, I would be horrified if Sanchez comes in and make our D manage to make him look at an elite QB instead of the stumbling rookie that he is.

Hopefully Tulla is back on the field and AT channels his BB anger towards the Jets OL and Sanchez.

I guess my point was that whether you credit the Colts' offense, blame the Patriots' defense or combine the two, our defense has no business being offended at not being trusted to defend about 70 yards when then we're able to even make the Colts sweat in gaining almost half of that.

Agree on the Jest, a strong passing game from them would be a monumental concern.

I told you so downward spiral?

Why can't we Jet fans just be pumped up for a season, like every other fan base is, and then when we start losing, refer to the Same Old Jets when they indeed start playing like the Same Old Jets? Because in ecsense, that is what they have been lately. Finding ways to lose. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Jet fans just don't get all depressed over every loss, we get depressed and start bringing up Same Old Jets when the Jets start playing like the SOJ and only Jet fans know what that is like.

I posted this in another thread since I can't start a thread here yet, but our best Safety, Jim Leonhard, per our best beat writer, will not play Sunday.

Thumb surgery sidelines NY Jets safety Jim Leonhard | New York Jets - - NJ.com

Teams have done a 180 since Week 2. No Jenkins, Leon or Leonhard for us and you will have Welker and Mayo back this time.

Still, I think we match up well. Our problem lately has been stopping the run, not the pass. We are going to play a tight ball game. The game shouldn't be a blowout. I think the Patriots are going to beat us, and I'll be at the game, but I don't think it's going to be 42-7. More along the lines of 27-17.

If we win, great, I'll be pumped as hell and leaving Gillette happy for the second time in a row. If not, well, it's expected since we've played mostly like garbage since our Week 2 match-up with the Patriots. 2-5 since then.

If the Pats don't beat the Jets on Sunday, I'll be doing some

crying of my own up in Section 338.

I don't really care what numbers and stats say. The 2009 Jets are not a good team. People have this impression of them because they played 3 good games at the beginning of the year, that they are some huge threat that is going to strike any minute. Yet week after week they continue to lose.

They have won TWO games since the 2009 Superbowl part deux. TWO!!!!

I guarantee if they played those 3 teams again, the outcome would be different. I've watched every game they've played this year.

Now, with that being said, I am not saying the Pats will win, bad teams beat good teams every week, but we are not playing a great team this week.

We must stop their run. It is #1 in the NFL.

Back to the 3-4.
