Better Brady throw his picks in a game like today's than against a good team.

The deep ball was underthrown, and as usual with his deep balls of late, he's waiting so long to try and hit his man, giving safeties the chance to cover.

He also missed a sure TD on 3rd & short right before the half on the same drive as the penalized fake punt attempt. He went to LoMo for the 1st, but had a man wide open at the top of the set for a sure TD over the middle. He never even looked his way.
A brilliant analysis in hindsight from your easy chair...

The crowd were booing the hell out of that call. It was just obviously idiotic. Everyone knew that was a seriously dumb move.

I'm not that concerned about it. I think it's just a timing issue with a rookie that didn't have a minicamp, training camp, or preseason to work with him and has only had a week of practice to work some kinks out. It happens, especially in this offense. The first pick was much more concerning given the fact that Brady apparently "didn't see him"... with the exception that Talib was RIGHT in front of Moss.

I wasn't happy to see them, but those were pretty borderline calls. The guy had already gotten around him and they were both highly visible when he just kind of held and guided the DE. You certainly see a lot worse in the trenches, but having it happen on the outside in full view, I guess the rook has to be a little more clever in his holding.

Good:
We won
The F'n Soldier got F'n Shut Down
Tate looks faster than his college vids led me to believe & did awesome for 1 week of practice
Aiken is faster than I thought & is tough from being a STs guys
Chung plays (downhill) fast and his body has about 3 years of growing left
Prior is a disruptive force rushing, Great pick
TBC is in his ideal setting in our sub-packages
Hit Stick is starting to make a rep for himself
Welker is the best use of a 2nd rnd pick ever(& 6rnd pick too I think)
We're using/developing our depth players more than I can remember, ex. Lockett(like him) was in today, and not just the last minutes

Bad:
Though he did get about 4ypc, LoMo didnt break 50
Warren might be hurt bad
Vollmer & Moss should be fine after the bye, but thats what I hope for
Discipline by O-line
Our directional punter kicks it in the middle
Morris was underrated in the FB role and is missed

I thought it was a rough game until I considered:
  • Short week/long trip.
  • VERY early subbing.
  • Weirdo crowd.
  • The numerous unexpected scores today.

The final point being the biggest... you can never be sure what will happen in the NFL. The Pats seemed to play down to the Bucs a bit today.

After that game I watched the Dolphins/Saints game and was horrified that we have to play both of those fairly beastly teams this year (totaling 3 of our remaining games). A lot of good will come from this game, and thankfully we have smaller/easier questions than many of the teams that played today.
