Wembley was hosting WC Qualifiers last year, but the pitch they had laid was simply ****e.

What draws me to American Football? The excitement. Your regular Brit sees the NFL as a bit of a joke; a game that should take an hour actually takes 3 hours to play, there's too many breaks, they were pads, blah blah blah.

A load of bollocks.

I also love the depth of knowledge you need to understand the game - footy is great, but you can be a complete moron and be at the top of the sport *cough* BECKHAM *cough* - not in the NFL. I dont think there's a comparable position to Quaterback anywhere else in sports. You are everything; the team lives and dies on what you do.

not that I'm British, but if somebody asks you if they could borrow a 'rubber' it's not what you think it is

There are 3 of us flying down to London from Scotland on Sunday. The other 2 have been down before, but this is my first NFL live game. To see Brady, Moss, Welker etc live is fantastic. We're right behind the Pats bench which is a bonus too.
It should be a cracking atmoshphere with a lot of Pats fan there.

Why did I get into it? I can't honestly remember how it all began, but in the nineties I started to watch highlight shows, and then the games were live on Sky Sports on a Sunday night, and with no other sports on, I began tuning in to watch them.
It was 2001 and I began to take notice of the Pats when Drew Bledsoe was playing, and I can still remember him getting injured v Jets. Wondering how they would get on with the rookie, Brady, I kept watching out for them, hoping both would do well. The rest, as they say, is history!

I would think the Patriots are popular over there, simply because they have the word "England" in their title.

And, luckily, we took the Minuteman off the helmet years ago, so they won't get too pissed/mad, just pissed/drunk.

Not going to the game but I got into the game because I like my tough contact sports (grew up watching Rugby League) and got into the NFL when the Patriots played the Eagles and all my mates were backing the Eagles to win, so I took the Patriots and its stuck ever since

Anyone else think it's ironic that our team which got it's namesake from the rebels who fought and gained their independence from England is playing at wembley this weekend? Ha.

Wonder if that actually causes any resentment, or is that just old history that is irrevelant today?

Too bad the Pats can't bring their Minutemen with the muskets.

Interesting. Hopefully the pitch will be better. Not that it matters, but would England have played more than one home WCQ in 2008? I remember they beat up on Kazakstan pretty good, but I'm not sure where that game was. I think they also must have played a friendly or two that Spring -- they beat the U.S.A. in the spring at Wembley.

Anyway, with this latest group play in the WCQ Wembley has looked pretty good.
