What are you saying? That Edelman is Brady's replacement? That he's Brady's backup? I dont get it. People dont play both WR and QB in the NFL. The only way he'll ever throw the ball is if the Pats decide to run the wildcat

What are you saying? That Edelman is Brady's replacement? That he's Brady's backup? I dont get it. People dont play both WR and QB in the NFL. The only way he'll ever throw the ball is if the Pats decide to run the wildcat
If Brady should happen to be injured, god forbid, I wouldn't put it past BB to use him at QB.
I'd LOVE to see them use the wildcat. Even if it wasn't something they use alot like the Doofins do. Throw it in here and there to screw up our opponent.
I've learned to never put anything past BB.
Re-sign Troy brown as a backup QB! LOL!

This point might have more validity if at the end of the season Edelman could rack up 1,879 all-purpose yards, which Welker managed to do while playing for both San Diego and Miami. Two teams who should be kicking themselves for gross stupidity above and beyond the call of duty.
I was comparing their receiving numbers emphasising how quickly Edelman has caught on. Your point on the return yardage is right on. Edelman won't come close in comparison of return yardage. Welker had no catches and 1879 in return yardage.

Edelman should be used more I think to extend and strech defenses which will give Welker more room over the middle, Moss able to be a little more active and to even open up the running game. Streching the defense would do a lot for this offense.

Watson does it well in the middle of the field. However, what we're lacking is somebody who works the sideline well opposite Moss and can push it deep. Even comparing receiving yards it's not a good comparison. San Diego kept him as a return man, then dumped him despite getting a 25 ypr avg. Miami wanted a return man and didn't see what he was as a receiver. NE found Edelman and immediately tested him at WR and RB and returner to see what he could do given the chance (I think he also got some DB reps too) - I can't help but think Welker would have come in better prepared as a WR and returner from Texas Tech and BB would have found the diamond he's become much earlier than the Fishies.

The Patriots might have signed Welker—heck, maybe they might even have drafted Welker—if they didn't have so many undersized WRs.
And, even more ironically, the Chargers cut Welker in order to sign . . . Tim Dwight.

You are probably correct. Interesting, they didn't go after Danny Amendola who was also undrafted from Texas Tech. He is a clone of Welker.
Still can't believe Miami was so foolish in assigning him the wrong RFA tender and letting him get scooped up by a division opponent.

You are probably correct. Interesting, they didn't go after Danny Amendola who was also undrafted from Texas Tech. He is a clone of Welker.
Still can't believe Miami was so foolish in assigning him the wrong RFA tender and letting him get scooped up by a division opponent.
Look at their numbers. Edelman blows Amendola out of the water.

I have been thinking the same thing but I dont know why we havent seen much of it in the past 2 games.
