Default Mayo - "leaving on a jet plane"

I apologize if this has been posted, but I quickly looked through the front page and didn't notice it.

"All his bags are packed, he's ready to go .... "

Link: BostonHerald.com - Blogs: Rap Sheet

"Just left the Patriots locker room, where there was one notable detail: Jerod Mayo’s bag is packed."

The bag had a "No. 51 on it, with pads, shoes, and the whole deal. You know what else was there? His knee brace.

Mayo may need it. Mayo’s return to practice Friday was a sign that his recovery from a sprained MCL he suffered in the opener was rolling along. This is a stronger one. The second-year linebacker hasn’t spoken with the media since his injury, though he did respond when I asked him earlier in the week when he was coming back."

If I had to guess, I'd say he's still a week or two away, but usually BB doesn't let guys travel that are definitely out. So worst case scenario ... he's gotta be a game time decision. This would be fantastic NEWS!

He's listed as questionable so I'm saying he's going to play in Denver.

Your second instinct was correct. Injured players who are going to be inactive don't fly to away games with the team....and they definitely don't fly to Denver with their equipment packed (don't think that this is a BB mind game - I'd be surprised if he didn't play).

Having him fly to Denver is worth it for the mind game alone, whether or not he plays. When he does play, it changes the defense.

So I don't think this means anything. My firm prediction remains: maybe he'll play and maybe he won't.

I hope Mayo doesn't listen to the rest of that line..."don't know when I'll be back again, oh baby....."

This mind game stuff is so overrated it's not even funny. Mayo is questionable because Belichick is making a game-time decision on his injury. This is like before the Superbowl, when my Giants friend was 100% convinced that Brady's ankle injury was being faked to throw New York off.

Come on, you have to be a ******* idiot to think that's the reason Brady wore a brace. You'd have to be an even bigger idiot to think that the Giants wouldn't game plan for Brady just because of a "fake" ankle injury, which by the way we all saw happen on national TV. Pathetic. Belichick is way smarter than this.

This is the same situation, but with less idiotic speculation about Mayo. Belichick said it a few weeks ago: some guys heal well enough through the weekend to play on Sunday, and some don't. That's why it's a game time decision. That's why he's questionable.

If he's far along enough to be bringing his gear, my bet is that he's going to play.

I hope he DOESN'T play honestly. I don't think we need to rush him back against Denver. They are not the physical team that Baltimore was. Could haveused him against Ravens but we squeaked by that game. I think we can win the next two without him and then have him fresh and ready to go for a playoff run. 6-1 at the bye with offense hopefully waking up will put us in position to win #1 seed and get back on top ofthe hill.

Might be a slippery field too.
