It's a great opportunity to practice situational football, good for him.

"For all the people that touch the ball, footing is an issue. Passing, catching, kicking, fielding, all of those things are definitely an issue when the weather gets bad. The only way you get good at doing it in the bad weather is practising it."
"If we play in it, I hope we practice in it, and that's going to be our philosophy," he said. "If it's wet, damp, raining, snowing, whatever, we're going to be outside."
Sunday's forecast for the Broncos' game against the visiting New England Patriots calls for more cold weather and possibly snow. Knowing that, McDaniels said there is no possibility that his team would practice indoors.
"You can't just tell the guys, 'Hey, we're going to practice inside in a bubble all week long and when we go out there and play in the snow on Sunday, just make sure you do all the things you're supposed to do,' " McDaniels said.
"You have to be ready to handle it. You have to understand what you can and can't do when the weather's poor. You can't cut the same way, you may not be able to throw the same way. And it definitely affects the kicking game first."
I thought it was interesting that McDaniels thought that of all things, it was not passing, catching, running, or anything else, but it was the kicking game that he feels is affected first.

Hey Pats fans,
Im not here to talk smack, I dont normally go to other teams message boards but since we got one of your coaches as our HC now I figured Id drop by and see what this week's enemy is up to.
Smack talking is reserved for division rivals so I'll keep it clean here
Anyway, I read this article today and was floored. You guys dont understand, Shanahan ran club med. If it even looked like it was going to rain, indoors the team went. Im loving the way McDaniels is handling things. Great start to what was supposed to be a crappy year for Denver.
Is this how Belichik does it? I am starting to see why New England has been successful under him.

From everything I've read and heard Belichick doesn't take either a drill sargeant or club med approach, but instead takes every week differently depending on the team's overall health, attitude, preparation, etc. I never got the feeling that it was an either/or situation with him in terms of how he ran practices.

What about with his assistants though? Seems like that would fall on them to do instead of him...

In short - yes. This is classic BB, especially this early in the season when the lads haven't been exposed to the elements as much.

I was just speaking in reference to how physically demanding Pats' practices are in a given week - in response to the Broncos practicing in the sleet and snow. In terms of individual coaches, or Belichick letting players know what they failed to do on a play when the team watches the game film - that's another story.
