Hate to use basketball, but Dave Cowens once started complaining when the refs were calling every ticky tack thing. Technically fouls, but impeding the flow of the game.
Finally Cowens looked right at the ref, laid a guy out, put his arm up and said "that's a foul". Refs got the point and let them play.

The officials are definitely being overly protective of the QBs this season, in general, and it's not just been this one game. The helmet call was weak, but the call on the knee had to be made given the rules. It was not a Wilfork situation, or a 'slide down' situation, it was a play made right on the knee. It's all about protecting the biggest dollar earners.
