Coming around to what? No one knows exactly when Mayo will be back.
I spoke with one the the trauma orthopedic surgeons I work with about Mayo's injury. Not having seen his MRI, his view was that MCL injuries (including tears) are generally treated non-operatively, and that 6-8 weeks is the usual recovery time for a grade II or III injury. He thought that Mayo might well be able to come back sooner, possibly as early as 4 weeks, but that he would be at increased risk for re-injury by rushing back, and cited the example of Jerry Rice, who had an ACL tear in 1997 and came back 14 weeks later only to fracture his patella.
I think it's fair to say that the Pats are playing this day-to-day and week-to-week. I'm sure their team orthopedists will have a lot of input, and a lot will depend on how conservative or aggressive the organization (and Mayo) chooses to be.
My best guess is still that he's out until after the bye week. But it's just a guess.
