Default Jags scouting report for you

Just because somebody asked me to, so here you go. (I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, so feel free to move it.)

* Their whole offense is MJD, like you didn't know that already. Garrard looked very average. I don't know if he just hasn't built any chemistry with his receivers yet, but there was no fear of Garrard. Holt is the only receiver worth a crap.

* The o-line is vulnerable. The rookie OTs may be good one day, but I would be worried if I was a Jags fan right now.

* Keeping people at home in the middle is the key to stopping their ground game. That's where they had the most success against the Colts. The Jags have had a lot of success running on the Colts, so the fact the Jones-Drew only managed 97 yards was an accomplishment.

* On defense they are not the Jags of the past. The Colts moved the ball pretty effectively the whole game. A bad decision by Peyton resulted in a pick in the endzone and Addai fumbled in their territory once. Outside of the two turnovers, the Colts only punted twice. The Colts missed two short fourth down conversions, but that was more because of Colts choosing to running off tackle instead of up the gut than the Jaguars being stout.

* Gonzalez went down on the second series and the Colts passing game was able to do well with Reggie being doubled nearly every play and a rookie and a second year guy at the other two receiver spots. The Patriots should be able to pass the ball with success.

* Reggie Hayward broke his leg. He is not the player that he once was, now he won't be contribute for a while if at all.

So if you contain MJD, Garrard will not beat you. Their defense is suspect compared to years past (at least at this point of the season) and the Patriots should be able to take advantage of it. While it is just the first game of the season, I see no reason that you guys should lose to Jacksonville, especially if Del Rio is still their coach.

Keep 'em coming. We have the Jagwads 2nd round pick in the draft.

Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

Thanks man (I made the request for scouting reports). Interesting stuff especially for us that didn't watch the game.

Have a couple of questions on the game. The Colts had a poor YPA on the ground and besides Wayne there were almost no pass plays downfield. Did this have more to do with the Colts O or the Jags D? I remember the Jags playing what looked like a cover-7 against the Pats a few years ago and Brady killing them underneath. Pretty much the same thing?

Only 1 sack on Manning but were the Jags able to get much pressure or QB hits?

The sack on Manning looked like a delayed blitz. Peyton had a fair amount of time most of the time. On the TD pass to Reggie, I was surprised he got enough on it since he was getting hit as he was finishing his throw.

The Colts ground game is a work in progress. That was the first game with that starting offensive line. Lilja missed all of last season, Charlie Johnson is the new starting left tackle and Pollak is in his second season.

The passing game was effected by Gonzalez going down with a knee injury on the second series. Austin Collie is a rookie and Pierre Garcon is a second year guy that had 4 catches last season, so it's going to take a minute before they are truly effective. The Jags were also loading up a bit on DBs at times during the game and I think they may have had that 7 DB package for a bit.

If the o-line can get it together then EVERYTHING falls in place on the team.

Garrad has absolutely no time to pass.
