Default Herald: Seymour has the letter

It looks like Big Ben began ticking for Big Sey on Thursday:

The Pro Bowl defensive end, who is engaged in a well-publicized Sit Out instead of reporting to Oakland, got the five-day letter from the Raiders on Thursday. It was hand delivered to him, according to a friend of Seymour.

Let 'em talk. That extra first will look good in a couple of years and virtually ensures BB will stick around to use it.

Doesn't matter. The fact that the Raiders sent the letter means that it is their problem, not the Pats. The only way the trade could get voided is if Seymour actually failed the physical.

This is the year. We put our failures in the past, it's a new year, a new defense. It's time to prove to the league that the Patriots are back and aren't going anywhere and they will be the last ones standing in Feb.
Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

yeah. that's my understanding. nfl rules and the CBA don't take into consideration that a player in his prime might just decide to blow off millions of dollars and all or much of the remainder of his career because he's displeased with a trade

Al Davis has about 6 million reasons to make him report. That's the pro-rated portion of Seymour's bonus that the Raiders have the right to go after if he doesn't show, according to the Globe.

Until that happens, this thing is still very much up in the air. Letter or no letter.
