If this is true, then that sound you hear is the sound of a 50 TD season record preparing to fall.

The only thing I'm worried about re: Brady is a late or cheap hit - - especially given who now coaches the NY Jets.

Blitzing Brady is a dangerous proposition. If you cannot get pressure up the middle, he will eat opposing defenses for lunch. Brady's quick release is a blitz killer. The reason why the Giants had success against Brady in the Super Bowl is because they got pressure up the middle which neutralized him from stepping up in the pocket to avoid the blitz that he does masterfully. With pocket passers like Brady and Manning, outside blitzes aren't usually effective because they can still step up in the pocket. You need to collapse the pocket to neutralize them.

Exactly! Blitzing Brady plays into the Pats hands. Leaving Welker and Moss one on one with Brady's quick release and pocket presense is a recipe for success for the Pats.

Someone should ask the Steelers how those zone blitzes have worked against Brady. Perhaps the article should review what opponents can replicate the Giants front line and what new wrinkles can be added.

Talking about cheap shots..There were a ton in the Giants game..one would have thought that Coughlin might be talked to...since it was a lot..but then again Goodell wears NY colors so...not happening..

I think we'll see more blitz oriented defenses across the league. With the increase of PI penalties and the stiffer interpretation by officials of those rules, coaches have little options except to disrupt the pass at its source. In their desire to increase scoring by limiting DB to receiver contact, the league has inadvertently made the game more dangerous for the QB. May the best O-line win.

kirwan also has some knowledge about football and he is talking about these firezone blitzes. in the SB the giants pressured with their front 4 but i assumethey also blitzed creatively. the fact that kirwan says that bb told himthat he looked all all things during the offseason means this is somewhat creative then just all out blitzing and brady picking them apart.
