Default Welker Could Miss Week One

Patriots WR Welker could miss Week One - Sports Rumors - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Didn't see anyone post this. I still think we handle the Bills, plus I'm excited about the possibility of seeing Edelman step up when it counts. Thoughts?

That's because it was discussed to death several days ago.

And wasn't Welker 1.0 seen at practice before the Giants game?

Thanks for posting this because I definitely missed any other threads related to a Wes Welker absence in week 1.

Welker was standing on the sideline of the Giants game chit chatting with TFB. Both were in uniform.

This was just one of the latest guessing games the media was playing last week.

Mike Reiss said on the radio yesterday that Welker was returning punts before the Giants game. Sounds like he is close to ready. My guess is that if that game was a real game, he would have practiced and play.

my bad, it is hard to follow every discussion on this forum. I'll try to pay better attention next time.

Not releated to whether Welker plays or not but the reason he was in uniform - like everyone else - was that it was mandated by the NFL that for the LAST pre-season game, everyone on the roster MUST dress. It's an NFL thing for that one game. That's why he was dressed - even though he wasn't going to play.

Is there a league rule that every player must participate in the pregame warm ups too? Because Welker did that too.

Nope....Brady participated in those too. I wasn't questioning whether he plays in wk 1 or doesn't. I'm point out that do you/we really think Brady, Welker etc...those who didn't need to play, would even be in uniform for that game? Someone mentioned he was "dressed" for pre-season week 4. I was stating that the league rule this year is that everyone dresses for week 4. That's all.
